Bob Iger Interview on Disney company

I didn't want subscribe to read the entire article. But based on the snippet "Disney will take this opportunity to look for ways to run our business more efficiently..."

It doesn't take a rocket scientist that this means "cut costs". I.E. lay off more empoyees, delay capital expenditures, make less investments for future growth opportunities. etc.

Iger, along with a lot of other CEOs at large companies, stepped down right before this all hit. They all knew what they were doing. They are all still involved so they get their gazillion dollars, but not in title. No, this is not conspiracy theory stuff. You can look it up and see how many CEOs are doing the same. I would suggest that is why Iger has not disappeared and is still speaking for the company.

wife and i were talking about this last night at the dinner table, it almost seems as they've set Chapek up to be the fall guy though the economic downturn.

I’ve seen that thrown around a bit. I don’t think I buy that. Iger has wanted to retire so many times at this point. I think this is his push towards that. Chapek may not survive long term but I don’t think Iger stays on much longer either.

Iger is basically running the show because he is the best person to do it. It would be irresponsible to just leave Chapek to the wolves during a completely unprecedented event. He also took a 50% pay cut (which goes to show how absurd executive compensation is to begin with).

His "salary" isn't that much in the grand scheme of things. It's his annual bonus that I'm sure you think is absurd.

If Russell Wilson can make $80 MILLION DOLLARS playing mediocre football, then the guy at the top of the largest entertainment company in the world can rake it in too. He's earned it.
