Boatwright's is BoatWRONG's!

I agree that the breakfast is great....and dinner must be a different chef, because we really didn't like it. I felt that it was very expensive for very limited portions (by Disney standards at other restaurants) that didn't taste all that great. You shouldn't have to pay 80 bucks for a meal and leave hungry!

I'm sad to hear that so many folks have had bad experiences at Boatwright's. :sad2: We'll be staying at POFQ in May and I was considering having dinner there on our first night, but I guess we'll just stick with the CS there. At least that'll save us a walk over to POR and a few $$$. :upsidedow

I am so sorry to hear about your lousy dining experience. It has been awhile since we have dined at Boatwright's (2004) but even then it wasn't a good as our past experiences. Thanks for sharing your review!

Sorry to hear it was bad. For $80 you should get a good meal and good service.

We've done Boat. for dinner twice but it's been years. It was good but not anything to write home about. Nothing to complain about either just nothing that wowed us.

I don't want to see this rest. go down hill because I love my "Dixie Landings". I remember when French Quarter had a TS rest. and they got rid of that one. I don't want to see that happen for DL (I know, I know....POR) ;)

We were just there 3/7-14 and ate there 3/9 after a long day. The meal was HORRIBLE, way overpriced for what you get, service was poor, absolutely nothing good about it. Will never try this place again. I agree that this was the all time worst meal we've ever had a Disney - and we've had some stinkers at the Mexico pavillion at Epcot. We did not do the breakfast and I would agree it sounds much better, and I would be willing to try that.

Sorry to hear the bad reviews towards Boatwrights.

We stayed at POR in '04 and '07 and used the restaurant at least three times each visit. As others have said breakfast was always great food and ample amounts. Dinner was never amazing but it was acceptable. We would not go out of our way to eat dinner there but did because it was our resorts sit down restaurant and the waits were under 30 mins. Like I said never bad but just average.

The staff was hit and miss on all visits but we found this to be true everywhere on property. We had great staff at Le Cellier, Concourse Steakhouse and Portobello. We had not so great staff at the Yachtsman Steakhouse, Boatwrights and Mama Melrose's.

We tend to ignore reviews and try places ourselves at least once. Two example's are Fulton's Crab House, it received pretty good reviews but we will never go back. Our local seafood place does a 100 times better job for half the price. The other was Raglan Road, the reviews I found were on the negative side but we ended up going twice during our stay, we liked it that much.

The way I see it there are millions of people going to the World yearly and you can't possibly please everyone's taste or likes. Try somewhere yourself, sometimes you just get lucky.

Chris.

we went to boatwright's on our trip in august... it was ok, but very expensive. If we weren't on DDP we would have been slightly irritated. We had the filet mignon at I think 29.99. It was a super small and not very high quality piece of meat placed atop what could have easily passed for fried potatoes at breakfast with a couple pieces of brocoli. The crab cakes were very good. The bananas foster dessert was horrible. Absolutely horrible. It's a nice restaurant for breakfast, but for dinner, I recommend you skip it and head for the food court as this will probably be the worst meal during your stay at WDW.

I noticed something though. When we asked the server to recommend something, he named the highest priced objects in the menu, knowing full well that we were on DDP and that he would receive a larger tip for the meal.

Sorry you had such a bad experience there. We stayed at POR in 2005 and had an ADR for Boatwrights but decided to switch it at the last minute. The "look" of the place just didn't appeal to us at all. I'm glad we did switch. We may be staying at POR again this year and we'll be sure to skip it again.
