It is my understanding that the monorail has been down a lot lately. We often use it to go to and from the parks after meals in either the Poly or GF. People are saying just take the boats but can a 3 wheeled scooter go on these boats?

The boats that normally service Polynesian and Grand Floridian are not ECV accessible. They are the small boat launches which require a step down. Guests whose wheelchair can be folded and lifted into the boat can use those boats.
WDW usually adds extra buses when boats or monorails are out.

There is another option to go to Polynesian - you can take the ferry boat to the Ticket and Transportation Center. It's a short walk from there to the Polynesian.

Thanks Sue. I was afraid that the small boats would not handle a ECV.

I used to fold my mom's wheel chair and lift it onto the boats but the scooter is a whole new set of rules to learn!

DH's knees are so full of arthritis that walking is very difficult at times and right now a scooter is the only way he is going to be able to join the family in the parks. He detests buses on a good day so I doubt very much that he is going to want to load a scooter onto one. We will have our vehicle with us but I will miss the ease of going to GF for a nice dinner or getting sushi at the Poly.

I guess we will hope that the monorail stays running well next week!

I was their before thanksgiving and they added a contmporay and wilderness lodge bus to the mix for mk.

Just a note for future reference, but Wilderness Lodge has had a bus to MK for quite a while. It is in regular rotation.

1) Yup.
2) There is seldom a day when the monorail is not down
. . . interruptions can be short of long *
. . . they are old
. . . replacement parts are sometimes hard to find
. . . as with other areas, maintenance budgets have been slashed (not to a safety hazard level)

* Some breakdowns have been so long that guests removed the large monorail emergency side windows for fresh air !
