Can anyone tell me how long the boat ride from the fort is to the magic kingdom? Would it be faster to take our car to ticket and trasportation center?

The boat ride is very quick, I would say 10 - 15 min. The MK is the one park we do not drive to, once you get parked you still have to take either the ferry or the monorail into the park. The boat from FW is much faster. We drive to all the other parks.

If you wanted - one alternative is to take the boat to the Contemporary and use the outside walkways to the Magic Kingdom.

The boat takes you straight to the Magic Kingdom, bypassing the TTC. It's definitely the way to go. It's a nice ride, too.

Picture 7 Seas Lagoon like a big clock. Fort Wilderness is off to the side at 3 o'clock, MK is 12 o'clock and the TTC is 6 o'clock.

If you drive to the TTC, you'll have to take a boat or monorail for more distance than if you take the boat from the Fort.

I agree with the PP who said you can use the boat to the Contemporary, too. Jump on whichever boat comes first - either go direct to MK, or go over to the Contemporary and either go up to the monorail or walk over to MK from there.

I'd say "it depends".

When you leave your site and drive, you get to the MK parking lot and have your choice of the ferry, monorail, or bus (I suppose).

When you leave your site, you may walk to the Fort marina to catch the boat or catch an internal bus (how long is the bus wait? depends). How long will you have to wait for the boat? (it depends). One may be there sitting waiting for you - then again it may be a few minutes until it shows up.

Bottom line for us is, boat to MK, drive to the other parks.

PS-if rum and coke is involved, I may just ride the boat loop twice before I get out at the FW dock. ;-)

We boat to MK, boat and monorail to EPCOT, and bus to all others. We never drive once we're on site. Leave the driving to the WDW system. Relax.

We boat to the MK. For the other parks, we drive to the parking lot at the Outpost, and take a bus to the other parks. The busses drop you off very close to the entrances so it’s a short walk.

We adjust our mental clock to "Disney Time" as soon as we arrive, so the boat to MK is "not very long".

For real world clocks, we generally figured 30 minutes from our camper door to the MK entrance. Sometimes it is much less (boat was waiting for us). Sometimes a little longer. (Missed the bus from 1400 loop or walked up as the boat was pulling away.

No worries, we are on Disney Time*

* Disney Time is similar to Disney Money (prices)= Neither have anything in common with real time or money. :lmao:

Once on the Disney property we never use our car, unless we need or want to go off the property for something, usually food related (groceries or an off site restaurant). We're just never in that big of a hurry, nor are we there during the peak seasons. Driving means dealing with traffic, maybe parking a mile from the gate, (those are some BIG parking lots). On the way back the ride gives us time to 'decompress'.

If cities had mass transit as convenient, varied and frequent as Disney, many more would use it.

You're at Disney, relax. pixiedust:

I agree we never use our vehicle one in the campground. golfcart whereever we need to in campground then boat, but or monorail. that way the beverages in mexico epcot do not affect my driving ability on the way back. because i am not driving
