How long does the ride take from MK to GF. We will probably ride the monorail to the MK since it is the next stop from GF. But is the boat a convenient way to get back, or just something different?

The GF is the first stop coming back from the MK, followed by the Poly. You have to walk past the boat dock on your way to the resort monorail entrance, so just glance over. If there's a boat there, it's nice to take. I don't think it saves much time from the monorail, but it's a relaxing ride and a great way to see the resort.

It is very convenient and lots of fun. The ride itself is probably a little less than 5 minutes. Sometimes you may have to wait a while for a boat. Depends on how many are operating. :boat:

Maybe not at all times. But when the monorails get backed up (which seems too frequent for me), it can take 20 - 30 minutes easy to get back to GF via the monorail with the stops at CT, TTC, and Poly.

We don't ever bother with the monorail back now. Even if the boat isn't there, they're running two boats most of the time to where one will be there within 5 minutes.

The only time I would consider the monorail back would be if you have a tired/cranky kid in a stroller. Then it would be more convenient to leave the child in the stroller and roll it on to the monorail. You do have to fold up your stroller on the boat, which might be a pain for some people (especially when you tack on carrying the child, diaper bag, camera bag, ...).

You're right, but I meant with both things being equal. I've also been to the GF when they only run 1 boat, so in those cases, it can add a significant amount of waiting time. Unfortunately both things are unknown. Will the monorail be delayed and will they be running more than 1 boat? It's good to have all information and hopefully we make the right choice :smooth: .

Actually, the resort monorail goes clock-wise so from the MK you stop first at the Contemporary, then the TTC, then the Poly and finally GF.

She was referring to the boat...it stops @ GF, then goes to the Poly. :)

We love taking the boat, especially right when the park is closing and EVERYONE gets on the monorail. We take the Monorail to the MK, and the boat back to the GF, too!

I agree that the boat is usually fastest. Often there are three boats running. But on rare occasions, none are running.

We judge it by what we see as we approach the monorail and dock. If a boat is approaching or waiting, we go that way. If there is one visible at the GF dock, if you wait a minute or two one often appears on its merry way from the Polynesian. If no boats are coming soon and a monorail is just leaving the GF, it is the monorail for us.

Now that our DD is in a power chair at WDW, she and I take the monorail. The guys usually beat us to the GF if they are on the boat.

But isn't it fun to have two great choices of transportation? Only the Polynesian beats it with the addition of the ferry from the TTC.

The boat is very convenient especially if your room is in Sago Cay, Sugar Loaf or Conch Key.

Many times we take the monorail over and the boat back.
