We are doing a tour at MK that finishes by 10:30am and want to make it to Ft Wilderness (Mike's Bike Barn) for a Segway tour that says to be there by 11:15am. :scared1:

The only transportation that I believe will get there in within 30-40 minute time frame is the boat that goes between MK - Contemporary - Wilderness Lodge - Ft Wilderness.

Does anyone know:

Which direction the boat travels during the morning?

Which color flag (blue?) does that boat use?

Will we be able to get there in time if we are out of the tour and at the boat dock by 10:35 or so?

You will be cutting way to close for me.

There are 2 boats for FW the one you want only goes between FW and MK. The ride is about 15 min, but if you just miss the boat, you will probably be waiting 10 min for the next one to arrive and dock, plus a few minutes to load then depart. From the boat dock at FW you have about 1/2 mile to get to the bike barn(I guess they moved the tour to there, it used to depart from the area near the old River Country). You can walk or wait for one of two internal buses to get you close: yellow outpost, get off at Big Bear Little Bear and walk through the loop to the bike barn. Or orange outpost to 600/800(Jack Rabbit Run) and walk across the bridge to the bike barn. The bus depot is about a 2 to 3 min walk from the boat dock, plenty of signage to get you in the right direction.

Wow, a real Ft Wilderness expert - and they said you guys were a myth :rotfl2:.

Thanks for the great information. I thought the bike barn was right there by the boat area and a CM even confirmed that, but what do they know.

So, how frequently do the internal buses run? Would we do any better to drive around and hope for a quicker bus from the parking area? I am NOT a swift walker so the idea of a half mile walk (and probably up-hill in the snow, too) is not my cup of tea.

The boat to FW would be the quickest way. To drive you'd have to go from MK to the TTC, then tram or walk to your car, then drive out of the parking lot, then make a U-turn, go back through the MK parking toll plaza, then down the road to FW, then park at FW, then get the bus from FW parking to the Bike Barn. I think the boat to FW from MK would be quicker than it took me to type this!!!;)

You might want to go to the camping board and ask about where the tour leaves from. I have not done it, but from reading the boards, I thought the tour left from the pavilion also used for the BBQ, if that is the case, then yes it is near the dock. Somethings have been moved around though, so check on the camping board for the right info. Call center CMs can only go off the info on the computer, so if they have never been to FW they may get things wrong.

NJRRK is right, driving will take even longer.

Oh, and the internal buses just go round the campground all day long, so they are usually not more than 10min apart.
