We will be staying at OKW for our first time on labour weekend. We have been waiting so long to stay at DVC and we are so excited. We are used to staying at POR, and we really enjoyed the boat ride to DD (however it wasn't running on our last trip) I was wondering if there was a boat from OKW to DD. Thanks!

Yes, there is a boat from OKW to DD (or there was when we were there in October!). It is a pontoon boat, so can't accomodate as many as the POR boats, but we had no difficulty getting on.

The boat ride was one of the things which we really enjoyed at POR, and it became our favourite WDW resort, along with WL. If you liked POR, then I'm sure you'll enjoy OKW, as they have a similar feel (to my mind, anyway!).

Hope you have fun :)

The OKW boat leaves every 20 minutes from noon until 9:20 each nite. It has a capacity of 12 and the CM's are pretty strict about not exceeding that limit. Small children will be provided a life vest to wear.

It is a relaxing trip and maybe you'll get a glimpse of some eagles along the way!

Enjoy!

We have been known to take the pontoon in the evening just for some relaxing fun. Don't forget the walkway from OKW to DTD too. It follows the same water way the boat takes.

The boat was running from OKW to DD in Feb and May 2002. It is so relaxing especially in the evenings. Enjoy:)

Another question about the boat to DTD...I will be staying at OKW for my first time this August. We will have 3 small children - ages 6, 4 and 2. Will I be allowed to take a small, fold up stroller with me? If not, I will live - but walking around DTD with a 2 year old (without her stroller) could get tiring... not for her (she would run all day!) - but for me (the mother who has to chase her!). ;) Thanks for the help. Can't wait to try out OKW!!:bounce:

Can't answer that one for sure, but I don't see why not. When we were there in January, there were two seeing eye dogs on with us. What great fun we had talking to their sightless owners. Some very special people and dogs!

Thanks for the speedy reply. I can't see why it would be a problem either - however, I just don't want to "rock the boat" - so to speak! :) It does fold up nice a compact...looks almost like an umbrella (hence - umbrella stroller...). We are arriving Sunday around 4pm - and our thoughts were to head to DTD after a swim...I just can't wait! This trip was "spontaneous" and I never thought I would stay at OKW. The more I hear about it - the more I can't wait to go. We are staying at BWV and BCV in December too. Soooo - I am getting a BIG DVC fix this year. Maybe I can talk my hubby into buying in... :) That is the plan anyway!:D

Will I be allowed to take a small, fold up stroller with me?

Yes, the stroller should be fine. Everyone will need to sit on the provided seating (not in the stroller).

Enjoy the ride!

ktbugsmom,

I wound up purchasing DVC once I realized that the cost of one stay at Disney was enough to make a nice downpayment. You might want to consider using the cash for your next stay that way.

For my next three trips (yes - three!) - it is too late. :) I have rented points for Aug. trip, December trip and March 2003 trip - and have already sent DVC members their money! In retrospect - I should have used that cash for a downpayment and purchased some points myself - don't you think??? But, my theory is now this - I can check out three beautiful resorts - OKW, BWV and BCV - and then talk my husband into buying. Maybe I will be nice and let HIM pick the "home" resort.;)

Thanks for all of your replys! I am so glad to hear that there is a boat and my mom will love the walkway. thanks again!
