Someone can correct me if I am wrong....but I remember the boat pilot say the distance from Epcot to MGM is just over 1 mile.
At a fast pace you can make it in 15-20 minutes. But a more realistic time would be 30 minutes.
We just did this last month. It first stops at Swan/Dolphin, which takes 7-8 minutes. Then it stops at YC/BC, which took another couple of minutes. We got off here and just walked to Epcot. The boat then goes to Boardwalk and finally to Epcot.
It's a very slow boat ride. It stops at Swan/Dolphin, BC and then BW and finally Epcot. When you stay at BW they tell you the boat takes approx 20 minutes to get to MGM but that doesn't include waiting for a boat and actually being able to get on the next boat. I'd say it takes at least a good 30 minutes to get to Epcot from MGM not counting the wait time for the boat.
I'd take the boat either the whole way or like the other poster said, get off at BC and walk the rest of the way. The walk from BC is 5 minutes.
The quickest way would be to walk and from MGM to BW it's approx 15 - 20 minutes depending on how you walk and the walk from BW to Epcot is approx 10 minutes depending on how you walk so that brings it to an approx 25 minute walk in our experience.
It takes 25 to 40 minutes. Sometimes it would be faster to walk to the dock at Beach/Yacht or the Boardwalk (you got to see what the pattern of the boats are).
Some people do not realize that there is also a bus from the front of Epcot to Disney-MGM Studios, which is much faster than the boat, but only if you are at the front of the park anyway.
If your destination is Future World in Epcot, then I've found the bus is the quickest way to get there from MGM. The boat is very nice, especially if you can grab an outdoor seat on a nice day, but not very quick because of all the stops.
I have often wondered why they don't run an express boat from Epcot to Disney/MGM Studios and vice-versa like they do with the express monorail from TTC to MK to TTC.Does anyone know the reason? Thanks.
I noticed that you stayed at the Pop Century...what did you think? This will be my first trip with our children, 12 and 7 yrs old. Going the week before Christmas..good or bad time to go? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
