Boat Rentals?

Can people staying off site rent the small speedboats from the hotels (or anywhere)?

I believe you have to be a resort guest to rent from the hotels. At least that is how it used to be.

However, you can rent the canopy boats, watermouse, and maybe pontoon boats from Downtown Disney. That marina is open to everyone - resort guest or not.

Last March ('03) we drove to the WL and rented the Watermice.
We were staying off site at the time. You were not required to be a hotel guest.

We also rented bicycles and rode over to Fort Wilderness campground.
