Does anyone know what the cost is to rent the small two seater boats at the varies hotels and DTD also the age restrictions and finally where is the best location to rent them from to get the best bang for your dollar. Thanks so very much.

don't remember the cost - $19 (???) for a half hour (???)

the best place to rent one is either the Polyn or GF - then you get the MK.

if you want more room to push the boat to the limits - then WL or FW or CR - they are surpose to use the Bay Lake side.

however some use both. (despite signs)

Here is what I know (but I am sure that others will chime in with more detailed information): At the YC marina, the cost is approx. $30 for a half hour. It's more for an hour, but I not sure exactly how much more. At the YC marina, in order to drive solo you must be at least 12 years old and 5 feet tall. I believe the age limit is higher (16?) at the MK resorts.

Hubby and I are planning on doing this in a few weeks.

Sea Raycers, two-person watercraft that are sleeker, stronger and
environmentally friendlier than their predecessors. The new Sea Raycers can
be rented at the Magic Kingdom resorts, Coronado Springs, the Yacht and
Beach Club, Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans and Downtown Disney. The same
company that produced the Grand Floridian's "Grand One" yacht, Sea Ray,
designed the new boats. Youngsters 12 and older can pilot Sea Raycers.

Small craft that can speed up to 22 mph. Minimum age is 12, height
requirement is 5 feet. Combined maximum weight limit for all passengers is 320
pounds. All drivers under the age of 18 MUST have a parent or legal guardian
sign a release. Drivers 18 years of age must provide ID with birth date. $24
per 1/2 hour.

I called the BeachClub Marina and talked to a CM and he told me the ones
they have at the MK resorts go fast because they have more area to drive
around. The ones you find at the smaller lakes and DTD will have a governor
on them that will limit how fast they can actually go. (Of course, this info is
only one CMs opinion. Could very well be true or false. Just an FYI)

I was also told that they get much slower if two people are in them.

The following is the information I have from The Wilderness Lodge Marina, while it is several months old the pricing should be close.

Motorized Boats:

Sea Raycer $30.00 per 1/2 hour, $40.00 per 3/4 hour, $45.00 per hour
2 passenger maximum (320 lb. max)
*Driver must be 12 years of age and be 5 ft. tall in order to operate: also must be accompanied by an adult with a valid driver's license.
**Single drivers of the boats must be over 16 years old and have a valid Drivers Licensed No age restrictions for passengers. Parent/legal guardian signature required for all minors.

Do they usually check your driver's license when you rent the sea racers? I usually leave that in my room as I'm always so worried I'll lose my ID and have trouble getting on my flight back home.

Just rented one last week at the GF. It was $30 for 30 min. Thanks to a fellow DISer, I knew to show my Annual Pass for 15% discount :thumbsup2

you get a free half hour when you purchase a half hour with the MYW packages.

Also, I didn't know that WL was only supposed to use Bay Lake, DS and I went over to MK and GF. I truly didn't see any signs? What do they say? The CM at the dock told us how to even get there. :confused3

When I was a teen, (in the 80's) we rented these every trip and it was common to leave the Poly and drive over by where River Country used to be. I'll be sad if we can't do that in July! My kids have never stayed at a monorail resort and I wanted them to get the "feel" of what it's really like over there and how close everything is.

Like I said - no one at the WL docks told me that I couldn't go over to MK. The CM actually showed me how to do it. I admit the little causeway that connect the 2 can get a little hairy - but I just waited until no larger boats were coming our way.
