I want to check out the Boardwalk briefly, maybe grab a snack with my children and then take the Friendship? boat to DHS. Where do I get the boat? How long is the trip? Where does it leave you compared to taking a bus to DHS?:confused3

The boat dock is in the center of the Boardwalk - you'll easily find it, lol. One side of the dock is for departures to DHS and the other to EPCOT. Look for the signs at the entrance to the dock.

The boat will go to the YC/BC/BCV dock and then to the Swan/Dolphin dock before the DHS dock. Follow the walkway up the dock and you will be across from the bus stops. The ride to DHS from the Boardwalk will be about 20-25 minutes.

Look for the spot where the pink, blue and green lines merge. You'll see it's easy to find the buses from the boat dock.

The boat dock at Boardwalk, is right behing the resort itself....right on the boardwalk. It is divided into two area..one area for those going to Epcot on the boat, the other side for those heading to DHS on the boat. When the boat arrives, it will pick up passengers at BW, then head to YC/BC, then S/D, then go on to DHS. It should take about 20-25 mins, not including any wait at the dock. When you get off the boat at DHS, you will walk up the walk from the dock, towards the park. The entrance to DHS will be on your right, the bus area will be straight ahead. If going to DHS you will need to turn right, towards the bag check area. It is very obvious so you won't make any mistakes.
How will you be arriving at Boardwalk??

Probably coming from DD, still tweaking the itinerary. I will probably just ante up for a cab from there in the interest of saving time.

You can always walk to the Studios from the Boardwalk. There is a path that runs behind the Boardwalk pools and will be quicker than the boats. We walk it all the time and easily get there before the boat, even if its leaving S/D. The walk is maybe 15 min.

There is no bus transportation from Boardwalk to DHS,only options are the boats or walking.I myself would walk unless it's 90 degrees out.If you cut through the Luna Park pool to the walkway it's a 10-15 minute walk. The boats are cool but they can be pretty slow as they'll stop at the other resorts like Swan and Dolphin and add the time of waiting for them and it could take 40 minutes or more versus a 15 minute walk.

There is no way you are going to make that walk in 10 mins...not walking. Jogging yes, walking no. It takes at least 15 mins.
Is it faster than taking the boat? Usually, yes. I have left the BW boat dock, just as the boat is leaving...I have walked to Luna Park, cut through and then on to DHS. I got to DHS, bag check, just as the boat was coming around the bend. We beat the boat by about 5 mins..but my friend and I are peppy walkers, we don't stroll.
If it were me, I would take the bus to BW from DTD, check it out, and then walk to DHS from there. It's an easy walk, along a very well lit and laid out sidewalk, that runs beside the canal. If you just miss the boat to DHS, I would definately walk, rather than wait for the next boat.

I make it from DHS to EPCOT IG in 20 minutes walking and DHS is further away from Boardwalk than EPCOT,so yeah I would agree it would take close to 15 minutes from Boardwalk to DHS if you walk at a good pace.

If you are checking out the boardwalk, I suggest you do that during the evening when the street performers are out. It's a lot of fun for young and old alike.
