This thread may not have pure Disney appeal - but those who have passed through the gallery at the Boardwalk may enjoy a pictorial vacation break

Background
  • I had 15-30 minutes free time to cool and wait. We always enjoy a walkthrough the gallery, even though we do not have the means to buy anything.
  • I inquired if I could practice taking pictures of the artwork - and the manager said it would be OK. I promised to post them and send him access. Here they are!
  • It was interesting to learn about the processes for creating the artwork - almost like a free "tour"!

You've done it again, ehagerty! Beautiful pictures. The sculptures really photograph well...they look so dramatic with the way you captured the lighting. I was so happy to see this thread, because the Wyland Gallery has a special place in my heart now. May I share a story with you? Yes? Ok...

DH and I were staying at the Dolphin for a child free 10 year anniversary trip. We dined at V&A's for the first time, did an Epcot Segway Tour, drank about 100 mojitos at the Grotto pool...just an all around excellent trip to celebrate "us." The last two times we were at the Boardwalk (Oct 2005 and Oct 2006) I had my eye on a necklace at Wyland. I inquired about it, but just felt weird buying jewelry at WDW when we were already splurging on our room, PftS etc. (I must add, it was NOT a pricey necklace. Under $200!)

Well, on this anniversary trip, DH and I looked at it again, and he suggested we get it, but I told him no, I didn't "need" it (as if anyone "needs" jewelry, LOL) etc. He actually got a little angry, and said, "Geez, if I want to buy my wife a small gift for our 10 year anniversary, why should I be denied that? I mean, you are acting like it is a freaking 5 carat diamond or something...let me get this for you!"

After all of that...who was I to say no?:confused3 I have been wearing it every day since then, and have not taken it off. It means so much to me.

Thanks for the great photos! Brought back lots of great memories!

Thank you for the pictures! It has been a while since I was last there and have always liked going and looking at the art. I actually have the Ariel painting hanging above my steps in my home.

We always stop in there to look at the frogs. DH loves 'em, but have you seen the prices???!!! :scared1: (DH is getting one for his birthday but has no idea. It's a *big* birthday.)

Super nice photography! I could use your expertise to photograph the glass I do. It's *very hard* to get glass "just right".

Thanks for the pictures! I collect Frogman's frogs, so I love going in there and the Wyland at the Poly. :goodvibes

By the way, Tony is my salesman--and he's great!!

Your photos are beautiful.

Can you tell me what type of camera you use?

Great Pics!

I love goiing in the Wyland Shop to browsw. I bought a Wyland Lithograph several years while in Hawaii and it's been on my wall ver since. I love his jewelry, too. I jhave a whale tail necklace and a dolphin one from his designs.

My dream is to eventually get the painiting that has the Disney characters in it.

When you came into the gallery it was an unexpected surprise and this just tops it off. Thank you for taking such wonderful pictures of our artwork and giving me some tips as well. I think my wife has the eye, like you said because her stuff is getting better and better and mine is still just okay. Thanks again, stop by and see me whenever you're around.

If you want to get the "Disney Dive Buddies" piece, let me know, it has sold out in the signed and numbered edition already and we only have artist proofs left so don't delay if you really love it. Feel free to send me an email or call me if you have any questions.

Thank you for supporting Wyland Galleries and Wyland's conservation efforts with your past purchases, you're already part of something Huge.

I will tell Tony about this and it will surely make his day. Congratulations again.

By the way, Frogman may be coming to our gallery in the late fall, check in with Tony when you have a chance.

I don't usually have time to watch Jeopardy, but it was on the teen's TV speed dial (remote) today. There was a category for Wyland art!!! Who knew!!

I love the frogs! My DH and I always come in and admire them. We'll be back in November and I really would love to get one.
I came across this thread doing a google search of the frogman because I thought once upon a time I found a place in Boston that also sold them. Now I can't find a thing.

Anyone know?
