Basically trying to decide between the two. Love walking to EPCOT from Boardwalk and we will be spending a lot of trip at EPCOT but $650 is a lot more souvenirs etc. Basically budget will allow either but Boardwalk will mean less spending elsewhere during trip. Just curious what others would do with this choice. Thanks.

For me, the extra cost would be worth it for BWI. I've never stayed at POR, but had my first stay at BWI last summer and I loved everything about it! We spend a lot more time at the resort than we do the parks, so the resort is a big part of our trips as it's more to us than just a place to sleep. We don't choose a resort by transportation as we don't mind the buses, etc., but if you will be spending a lot of time at Epcot, staying at BWI would save a lot of travel time. Good luck :).

What your typical touring style? Do you normally spend a lot of time at your resort or are you mainly at the parks?

Do you have smaller kids going or adults only, teens?

$650 is good size chunk of money. It would be a easier answer with a smaller price difference. How much is the easy of access worth versus the stuff you would spend the $650 on?

It is just myself and my 12 year old daughter going on this trip. We are fortunate in that we have been to Disney quite a bit over the past several years (about once a year) so there is no 1 big thing we absolutely have to see or to purchase, (at least until Galaxy’s Edge opens of course lol). We have stayed at both POR and Boardwalk in the past and have thoroughly enjoyed both. For me it is the easy access of BW that is my favorite thing that has me leaning that way. We do spend some time at the resort as well as at Disney Springs but i would say most time is going to be at parks with a lot of that at EPCOT. If we were to change to POR we would probably change those touring plans a bit with more time at DS but would not change significantly.

The convenience is nice, but $650 is a lot of money. With your daughter being 12, the bus rides will be fun. It's a time to chat. Only you can decide if $650 is worth the convenience. I think you'll be happy with either choice. Good luck!

I would stay with POR and use some of the $650 to do something special with your daughter. Maybe something you haven’t done at WDW before. Like one of the Disney tours, or tea at GF, horseback riding, dessert party, Disney After Dark, etc. Even Victoria and Albert’s.

I loved staying at the Boardwalk. It’s a really nice hotel and you can walk to two parks. Depending on when your trip is it could help avoiding traffic getting to Hollywood studios to see Star Wars.

But is the $650 going to be a huge stretch to afford? If it’s going to break the bank and sacrifices will need to be made to afford it I don’t think you should make the jump. POR is a fine hotel too. I think this should be the biggest deciding factor.

If you can afford to it’s definitely worth it IMO.

i just stayed at BWV with DD12 after two nights at POFQ. DD loved the pool at BWV and the walk to Epcot and DHS since DHS is her favorite park. I loved BWV. The place is so pretty, the pool is great, i liked the food options and the walk to two parks.

I will say DD said she liked POFQ better because she didn’t like the sofabed at BWV.

I think you’ll be happy with whatever you decide.

Where do comparisons end? Is POR, rack rate standard view $242 a night, worth it compared to a standard room at any of the All Star Resorts at $147 a night? Over 5 days this is close to a $500 savings. Think of what you could do with the extra $500 in your pocket.

Given your previous Disney vacations, I vote hard no on Boardwalk. POR is beautiful and just as fantastic. Spend the $650 on other Disney adventures you haven’t experienced yet!!

For a 5 day trip with park tickets, there wouldn’t be much downtime for me, so being at the resort wouldn’t be THAT important.

But if you’re already resort-focused, well, I do LOVE that keister coaster.

If it were a longer trip I’d likely say BW, but with a short one I’m definitely not sure.

I’ve stayed at both. While I really really like POR, if budget allows I’m booking an Epcot resort. Location can’t be beat and BWI is great.
