Boardwalk vs. POFQ

DH and I are taking DD2 and DD4 to Disney in December and we are staying at POFQ. My parents (maybe) and my inlaws will be coming as well. We chose POFQ because of the price (I think it was something like $1300 more for Boardwalk), but I'm really upset about it now. We stayed at The Boardwalk on our honeymoon, and we really loved it because it is a beautiful hotel on a "fake" boardwalk (I'm from the Jersey Shore, so that was no boardwalk to me, but it was still nice) and the location was great - it was like a park within itself.
Can something please give me some good points to POFQ to make me feel better about our stay there?

I have never been too BW but people say it is more for adults.I think now that you have kids the POFQ will be best! I have stayed there and it is great! I have a DD10 and she loved it! Also it is a great choice for the money!

I think French Quarter is the better choice! ​

We loved POFQ when we stayed there a few years ago. The hotel is great for kids, has a great pool and not so much walking (which is nice when you return to the hotel at the end of the night with a sleeping toddler). I think you have made the right decision and will have a great time.

Just think of what you can buy with the extra $1300 in your wallet!

Stayed at POFQ before we bought into BWV, love them both. POFQ is awesome, my favorite moderate. It's small, and the theming is very, very nice, loved the pool area. The only drawback is that there is no table service restaurant, you have you go to POR for a table service meal. I agree with the OP that it is a "fake" boardwalk, definetly not Atlantic City or Wildwood, but you can't beat the location. Don't fret you'll have a great time at either that you choose.
