We're excited to be staying at BWV in November! This will be our first time at BWV...2 bedroom unit. Any info, tips, pros, cons about this resort would be appreciated! Pictures of 2 bedroom unit? Thanks! :)

likes full but small kitchen, washer & dryer in the villa, best - whirlpool tub.

dislikes - the silly clown at the main pool.

likes it is on the BW - so if you take the time away from the parks - something interested to do at night within walking distance of your resort.

I am a DVC owner at BWV. I love it there. Some of the rooms are in need of a little cosmetic repairwork, but they have done some refurbishment. They have added some new artwork and replaced the hide-a-beds in the last year or so. I always request a boardwalk view. In a 2-br unit, you will have one room with a small balcony and the other w/ a very large balcony. I love sitting out on the balcony early in the morning or to watch the fireworks at Epcot or just the action down below. It is so relaxing. You will love having the convenience of a washer and dryer in your room. We normally come home with almost all of our clothing clean. The kitchen is also a big plus. We eat most of our breakfasts and dinners in our room. Saves us a huge amount of money and makes a deluxe vacation affordable for us. They have a great store right down on the boardwalk w/ a fairly large mini mart area. Carry alot of refrigerated items and the basics along w/ some fresh fruits. It's very handy. Boardwalk Bakery is excellent. Have celebrated BD's all three trips and the cakes from the bakery never disappoint. Some people love the "scary" clown pool, and some don't. It's a nice pool area and always seems to be packed w/kids. There is also a quiet pool area that is usually deserted. They have an activities center where the kids can go to do craft projects when you need a break from the parks. You can do different crafts each day for a very nominal fee. They also have a rather huge library of videos that you can check out for free. It's so nice being close to 2 parks. I love the boat transportation here. The captains on the boats are very friendly and helpful. You will love BWV. Have fun.

All two bedrooms at BWV are lock offs. Meaning a combo of a one bedroom and a studio with the connecting door open between. So you will have two entrances into the villa - one in the one bedroom and one in the studio portion. Plus you'll have a full kitchen in the one bedroom portion and a kitchenette in the studio.

Your beds - one king in the master, one queen sleeper sofa in the living room, one queen bed in the second bedroom and one double sleeper sofa in the second bedroom.

Bus transportation to DTD, MK, AK, BB (that's what's open in November for water parks). You'll share a bus with Dolphin and Swan hotels. If they stop at the Swan first, get off and take the bridge across over to the BW, a lot quicker than riding all the way around.

It's an easy walk over to Epcot and Disney Studios, probably quicker than the boats most of the time.

You don't want to be really close to the elevator, it's very loud. On the other hand, you don't want to be too far, either, it seems like the hallways are a half a mile long.

Thanks for your replies!! :goodvibes

CaliforniaDreaming: The pictures are great. Can't wait to take some of my own @ the resort. :yay:

Spiceycat: That clown pool does look a bit strange. I'll have to see it for myself. I wonder how my 3 nieces will like it. Their ages are 4, 6 & 7. :dance3:

Deb & Bill: I didn't know if all the 2 bedrooms were lock offs. Thanks, so now if my brother really gets on my nerves, I can "lock him out". :rotfl:

AJKMOM: The middle is "just right"??!! :)

grumpy.uncle: Can't wait to relax on my own balcony! I'm the early riser. Perhaps I can enjoy a little time to myself without waking the others. :thumbsup2 We will be checking out the mini-mart area & of course the Boardwalk Bakery. My SIL will be celebrating a birthday when we're there. Did you order the cake before your trip? Was it delivered to your villa or did you pick it up?

I love Boardwalk Villas. My parents own there, and they take my family every year. The 2 bedroom is great and has lots of space. My family (DH, me, and 2 DSs) always take the studio part of the 2 bedroom unit and my parents have the big part. We keep all the doors open during the day, but close them at night for more privacy.

My kids absolutely love everything about this resort. They love the pool, arcade, midway games, and the entertainers that come out at night. It is such a relaxing resort. I love just sitting on the balcony watching the people. If you get the boardwalk view, you can see some of Illuminations from the balcony.

Have a great time!

I am really getting excited about this one! My nieces will certainly get a kick out of the midway games & entertainers. My SIL & I will love the relaxing part on the balcony! :rotfl:

Yes, you can, but he'll have a key to open the hallway door to your villa. :lmao:

As to your question about the Boardwalk Bakery: We have always just ordered the cake a day or 2 before we needed it. We went down to the bakery to place our order. We always picked it up on the day we needed it, but you could inquire about delivery to your room. I don't know if you are familiar w/ the refillable mugs that are available at some of the resorts. They do not offer the refillable mug at the BW, but they do have them at the BC. It's not that far to walk over there during the day, about 10 minutes or so. The mini mart at the BC also has a take out counter where they sell assorted breakfast items (quiche, breakfast sandwich, etc), some lunch items, and a gelato bar. Stumbled upon it during our last trip. It is a little out of the way, but not that far removed from the BW. It seems to be very popular. It was packed every time we were in there.

are you KIDDING ME?

OH MY GOSH!

I can't not believe it. We are DVC members - home resort BC. But this year we didn't call soon enough and had the LAST beach club villa available And they told us it was a "lock off". after a few days of discussing it, DH and I called and asked which other resort had vacancy and all that was left was BW or SS. So we chose BW.

We have NO IDEA the 2 bedrooms at BW were ALL lockoffs. Just the thing we HATED. And just the reason we switched from BC to BW. OH MY GOSH. DH is going to pass out!

And now I read that BW does not have the refillable mugs? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Oh lordy, I hope I didn't make a huge mistake.

Somebody please tell me we will enjoy BW. PLEASE! I'm more nervous now than ever about staying there.

Patti

The BW has refillable mugs, just limited places to refill them.

And, yes, all the two bedroom villas at BWV are lockoffs. There are no dedicated two bedroom villas at BWV.

We stayed at BWV this past december and I was pleasantly surprised. However, it was a trip without children so I thought the resort was very relaxing for adults. That's not saying that kids won't have fun there either, I just can't give you a take on how kids would like it as my kids weren't with me.

We stayed in a studio it was on the same floor as the check in area...really easy to get to.

There were a few cons for us: We had a balcony that wasn't really open, it was kinda like a porthole to look out of...although the view was beautiful, we're short people so when we were sitting down we couldn't see out of the porthole, it was kinda enclosed.

Was there counter service there?? It was either non existant or we just didn't find it.

The boat transportation was not efficient (probably the time of year we went) it took us over an hour or more to get to either MGM or EPCOT because some boats would come and be too full to let anyone on. The walk to EPCOT wasn't bad though. It was nice to be let off at the World Showcase as that's what we were there for (xmas around the world) so we didn't have to trek through the entire park to get to the countries.

We did like the restaurants on the boardwalk..especially ESPN club (they scored more points with us because they were showing the Kentucky basketball game and we're HUGE fans!) However, we didn't see any of the entertainment on the boardwalk. We must have come back too late to see any of it, although we would come back in the evening and change into warmer clothes (it was cold at night) and still didn't see any of it..we must have been missing it.

All in all it was a nice stay. Not WOW for us..but the Poly is our favorite resort and that's why Disney has different resorts for different folks. The resort was clean, relaxing and beautiful. We would stay again if the opportunity came up.

Have fun!

Great location and we've enjoyed wonderful service during our many stays at BWV.

You don't want to be really close to the elevator, it's very loud. On the other hand, you don't want to be too far, either, it seems like the hallways are a half a mile long.

Heading down the hallway to MGM , the very last room at the end is 175 steps at 28 inches a step*, which is 408 feet from one end of the hallway to the other.

I had to measure out my stride for my pedometer which is 28 inches on average .

Did you book through CRO or with DVC points? If DVC points, your reservation is specifically standard view, preferred pool/garden view or preferred boardwalk view. If you went through CRO, there's no view reserved, but almost always preferred pool/garden.
