We'll be arriving on Tuesday to BWV, and we'll be staying in a studio, I'm wondering if there is a good floor or area to request? There will be our 2 younger sons and dh and myself!! Thanks!

Not sure what room category you booked, but we were in 3057 which is a 3rd floor studio overlooking the Luna pool area(preferred view, non Boardwark). Would have been better to be on the 4th or 5th floor as our view was partially blocked by the ever rapidly growing trees. Our non blocked view was of the back side of the Swan...ok, but nothing exciting.

Higher up and a few rooms further on( lower numbers) would have given us a more open view of the Hollywood studios. The odd numbered rooms face the luna pool and the even numbered rooms face the Boardwark...at least at our section of the resort.

Did you reserve standard view or preferred view? That will make a difference.

it was standard view!!

Not alot of choices with standard. Some face the front of the resort and there's alot of traffic, both car and people. The other side faces the pond/valet parking lot. I would ask for a higher floor. But let me warn you, out of my 10 stays at BWV-standard room location over the past couple of years, I've NEVER gotten anything I requested. Just last week I requested ground floor/dedicated. I got 3rd floor lock off with my balcony facing the loading dock for the luggage. (I did ask to be changed and was, but in the past I've not been able to change.) So I'm at 100% still since 2005 of never getting any of my requests at BWV (and we stay here at least 3 trips a year, sometimes more). BTW--we are convinced now that our requests are viewed as what we DON'T want. Good luck and post back.

For standard view, I've always requested top floor, across from the bus stop and was always pleased.

BWV usually pre-assigns, so call MS with your requests.

Wow! I was either in that exact room or right next door to it in September. (We traded into BWV). I liked this room because it was close to the elevators but not too close.

To the OP, I'd request a room with a daybed. We requested AND GOT one and our DS slept on that instead of the couch. I'm not sure of the ages of your kids, but that way, both kids won't be bunking on the pull out. Some of the rooms are very far from the elevators as well, so we requested to be close (but not too close). Have fun!!

That is a great idea of getting a daybed. My kids are not thrilled about sharing a bed. do they charge extra for the daybed?

The "daybed" is just a deacon's bench with a thin cushion on it. The cushion is about crib sized, maybe narrower. My son was five and refused to sleep on it several years ago when we got a Studio Plus. It is only a request and not a guarantee.

but the sofabed would be fine, they're just 5 and 9. I'll call tomorrow about being on a high floor!

Another one who doesn't get requests at BWV - except last time when we requested rooms close to each other and they were next door.

High floor is nice for seeing some upper fireworks. But lower floors offer much easier access to the pool and the Boardwalk (you end up on the pool side - so you need to walk around to the Boardwalk) without needing to use the elevator - or take too many stairs)

Don't be scared off by the "deacons bed" comment. :scared1:

Yes the daybed is small and probably wouldn't accomodate your 9 y/o, but your 5 y/o may prefer it to sharing the pull out couch.

And while I'll agree that the daybed is no tempurpedic, the pull out couch mattress isn't anyting to write home about either.

The daybed is just another option that you would have IF they give you one. There is no extra charge so why not ask for it? Isn't the possibility of having this option better than having no option at all?

In the studios, if you don't have the daybed, its not like they put anything else in that space. In that scenario, both kids ARE on the couch.

At the very worst, if you request and get a daybed and your child "refuses" to sleep there, you'll have an extra place to sit down or put your bags if you don't use it as a bed.

After a full and fun day at the parks, my tuckered out son (and most kids) could probably sleep on a cement floor. :rotfl:

Enjoy, and have a great trip.

Beg to differ. The new sleeper sofas at the BWV and BCV are really very comfortable. Much better than the old ones.

I've stayed in the BWV alot in a studio. You only get the deacons bench if you have a dedicated studio. Since there is no way to guarantee this request, you can't depend on getting it. As a general rule we always get it when we don't need the extra space. We just returned last weekend and it was the 2 of us and we had the bench, which pretty much becomes a catch all of us. I do notice that they do have a sheet on the cushion so it can be used for a small youth bed. Personally I would turn it around so that the openning is facing the wall and the back would prevent a little one from falling out, making the back a bed rail of sorts....:confused3

Measured the bench in October -- it's 24" by 60". I had a little measuring tape in the sewing kit I intended to leave in my Owner's Locker. Now I hope to remember to leave it there in December!
