Hello everyone, still trying to decide between the BGV's and the Poly Ambassador Suite.

Does the BGV come w/daily maid service and most important, "Room Service". Share w/me your view request, is it that all important to be closer to the elevators or the water shuttles? We will be visiting all parks and are expecting to be bushed!

We have always stayed at the monorail resorts, will the trip back to the BGV's be alot different? Don't want to hear any back lash from the tired grumpy members of my family.

If you are paying cash then the Grand Villa WILL come with daily housekeeping.

I don't know the exact location of the Grand Villas but I believe all of them have boardwalk views. Someone over on the DVC board may be able to tell you exactly where they are all located.

I believe that you can get room service from the Boardwalk. It does say room service is available on the Disney website.

It does sound like you appreciate the concierge service so maybe your best bet would be the suite at the Poly.

Will you be spending a lot of time at MK?

As far as transportation, you can easily get to the Boardwalk and Epcot and MGM from the grand villa. You may have to take a bus to MK or walk through Epcot and catch the monorail if you have park hopper tickets. You may want to post over on the DVC board about any transportation issues in regards to the Boardwalk.

You know Floridafam, I feel like you know me. The convenience of the monorail and the pampering of the concierge combined w/amusement parks is what it's all about to me and my spoiled family. It is my idea of "vacation". To venture out of that is hard for us. After all, BGV's are 'home away from home', the space is tempting, but I don't want it to feel too much like home. Thanks for all your imput. I will be investigating DVC sites. :wave2:

We are DVC members but we also love suites and concierge service.

It just sounds like you would like the suite better.

I do have to say that a Boardwalk Grand Villa would be pretty nice. I would definately have a hard time trying to decide between the two. The villa is huge but yet right in the middle of all the action so it really has the best of both worlds.

If only it was possible to book a villa with concierge service. That would be perfect!

... I have stayed in a 2-bedroom at BWV and thoroughly enjoyed it. In my opinion, being in the Epcot resort area is equally as appealing as being on the monorail -- though for different reasons. I really love being able to walk or take a boat to both Epcot and MGM. It's also great having so many dining options available within walking distance (Epcot, Boardwalk, BC and YC, Swan and Dolphin). I also enjoy hopping over to Epcot for Illuminations whenever I feel like it! If you plan to spend most of your time at MK, I guess I'd give Poly equal consideration. If, however, you have lots of family of varying ages and interests, I'd pretty much rule out the Poly. Since you've already done the whole monorail resort thing, try something new -- I guarantee that you won't be disappointed! :) I have 3 kids under the age of 9 and haven't had any interest in staying anywhere besides BCV... Even though we spend a few days at MK during our stay, we'd still prefer to stay in the Epcot area.

As far as daily maid service is concerned, you would get it if you booked your ressie through Disney reservations. If you rented points from a DVC member, however, you'd only get trash and towel service on the 4th day and then a complete room cleaning on the 7th day. That being said, you could also pay an additional charge once you get to BCV to have daily maid service. I can't recall what it would be for a GV, but it would be worth looking into if this is important to you.

IMO, staying at a DVC property doesn't at all feel like staying at home. The villas are beautifully appointed just like a hotel room, but you have the benefit of having a kitchen for quick meals (breakfast, snacks, etc.) and a private gathering place for all your family members. Of course, there's also the washer and dryer (which I always avoid!) and a wonderful whirlpool bath (which I'd love to enjoy more than I've done in the past!), which you don't get with a regular hotel room.

If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask... I'm always happy to help! :)

Happy planning,
Sarah

With regards to Room Service; yes it's available! The menu is made up from various items offered in the restaurants on the Boardwalk. Not from "one kitchen". So your meal could come from 3 different restaurants depending on what your order! :)

BTW, I found the room service at the BWV's to be one of the quickest I've ever experienced.

The Grand Villas are on floors 3, 4, and 5. They are all side by side, so none of them are really that much further than the others. :) The Grand Villas are in the red area closet to the Boardwalk Green (the picture in my sig is this "red" area I'm talking about), and they go to the area with the pillars & BW sign. :)

Actually, if you stay at least 8 nights, you get a full cleaning on day 4 and trash and towels on day 8. If you stay longer, the cycle continues with another full cleaning and then another trash and towels. If you stay less than 8 nights, you only get trash and towels on day 4.

I have stayed in the BWGrand Villas several times and in fact have booked two for my Dec trip. I hope they can be side by side as we are having a family reunion on my points LOL. We do have room service and it is great. Don't really need concierge when staying there as you are treated very well by staff. The space includes a full washer and dryer so you can pack light. I always pay for full house keeping which runs around 60 per day if I remember correctly. You could get it every other day if you don't have a messy family. We Valet park free and just call down a few minutes to have our car ready. We buy alcohol and snacks at Albertson's on the way in and the bellman bring it to the room. We usually eat out at different restaurants every night so love this location. The boardwalk itself has great entertainment especially jelly rolls. The villas are spacious have a master bedroom with bath. Bath has separate rooms for shower ,vanity and toilet and jacuzzi tub and vanity in other half. Also large walk in closet with safe.

Two other bedrooms are large with each having two queen beds TV private bath and balcony overlooking the boardwalk.

Main living area has 4 balconies overlooking boardwalk, living room with large TV , dining room table seats 8, kitchen decent size. Also room for laundry.

I can't answer about the suites but I don't think you would be unhappy with the grand villa. Joan:wave2:

Not sure when you are going, but there are not very many GVs at the Boardwalk and they are usually highly sought after by members. If you decide on one of those, I'd hop to it on that reservation, or the decision may be already made for you.

:Pinkbounc Thank you all for your help!!Feel confident in my decision to stay at the Boardwalk villas, now it's time to continuemy planning, Linda
