We will be going to the Boardwalk Villas for the first time as DVC Members next weekend. For those of you that have stayed here in the past, what are some things we shouldn't miss? (We are staying in a 1 bedroom pool/garden view room with our twin little boys) We can't wait and we were wondering if those BWV Veterans could give us a little advice and insight on this beautiful resort. Thank you in advance!

I would also appreciate some tips for BWV as we will be staying there in September.

Couple tips.

1) Check for stairway exits-some are close to the pool or boardwalk or out towards MGM to save some time (unless you need an elevator).

2) Consider getting off the boat and bus at Swan and walking over the bridge to get back sooner (still may want to enter at a stairwell).

Have fun.

Good tips Jade1.

To those I would add, depending on your room location it will probably be quicker to walk to MGM than to walk to the BW boat dock and then wait for a boat and the boat ride. The air conditioning in the boat is nice if it's hot though.

Go get breakfast at the BW Bakery and sit at one of the tables on the BW to eat. It's a great way to start a morning.

The quiet pools are great. If your kids are too small to ride the water slide then the quiet pools might be right up your alley, especially if it's closer than Luna Park.

Our kids love the ESPN club (and us too). It can get quite loud so if your kids are really young it probably would not be the best idea, but if they're a little older they'd probably have fun. Our youngest was around 6 or 7 the first time we went there and he had a blast.

There is entertainment on the BW during the evenings. I think the front desk may have a schedule, we always stumble into it.

Don't rent the surrey bikes if you are out of shape - the loop is bigger than it looks - uphill both ways - and those things are hard to pedal!

Do check out the Bellevue room - although with young kids you may not spend much time there - I love the feel of that place.

Make sure to check out the community hall. They will lend you swimvests for the length of your stay and you can get pool noodles. You can also check out movies (although we never have time!).

The Boardwalk Bakery has pretty good baked goods for the morning, we get them the night before.

It probably isn't worth walking to MGM with little ones, but it probably is worth walking to Epcot.

On occation, we've been known to grab a cab to get to the MK or AK on the morning or back home again. Our last trip we had great bus transportation, it was always there when we wanted it and we never stood. But when we are rushed for time - or don't want to risk standing - we will grab a cab.

great advice!

I'll be going in 10 days to BWV for the first time. very excited.

We requested a bottom-floor room during our last stay - and we could walk right out of our patio to the quiet pool. It was great!!!! Especially for late night swims!

I agree about getting off at the Swan/Dolphin and walking over when you get off the bus. Much quicker!

Have a blast!!! We will be there soon too!!! :sunny:

We'll be at the BWV 5/11 - 5/14 in a 1br. We'll probably pass each other a time or two.

Most of the great things about the Boardwalk have been covered already. I'll just add that you can walk over to Fantasia Gardens--Miniature Golf. It's on the other side of the Swan/Dolphin. It's not a quick walk but it's not that bad either. The little ones might really like it.

It's a GORGEOUS and fun resort. Have a great trip!

I'm going to try this on this trip. It really isn't that far of a walk, especially since it will only be DH and I this time. Besides...it's probably no further than the walk from the bus stop to the villas...and we won't have to endure the extra drive time...

We always bring our breakfast foods, wish there were more places (not expensive to eat breakfast). As others have said, find the exits. If you have a stroller, you might consider the walkway to MGM. We love it. One of our favorite things about the BWV is to sit on the giant veranda in those wonderful rocking chairs and just kick back-but then, our kids are grown and gone. Don't forget laundry detergent and some bounce!
Love, love, love the washer/dryers in the units, can bring less clothes. Doesn't bother me to wash a load while here.

I'll be at the BWV May 14-19. Make sure you where lime green, everyone :)

I really love going to Spoodles for breakfast. The all you care to eat breakfast platter is an excellent value at about $13 per person. It includes french toasts, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and breakfast potatoes. Very yummy.

It also included the 'Mickey' waffles!! Yummmmm!

Also noticed our laptop hooked up wireless at no charge-FYI.

Something we really took advantage of this trip when catching the bus, we didn't walk to the lobby and down to the bus stop, we walked down to the corner of the villas and on the sidewalk to the bus stop. This was much more convenient for our room location. I would think if you're on the first or 2nd floor and in a standard or quiet pool room, this might be easier and quicker. It all depends on room location.

Another tip I got on the DIS...you are only given 1 box of detergent, so I got some snack baggies and measured out enough for 1 load in each bag, then put them all in a big baggie. They were perfect to use, of course DH made me label the baggie so airport security wouldn't suspect we were transporting something illegal!

Be sure to enjoy the entertainment on the boardwalk, it's so much fun! Someone else mentioned checking out movies and my DD really got into this. It was great when we came back to the room to rest and she could put on a movie during our downtime.

Some great things are the location to other hotels:
- Cap Mays (at BCV) has a character breakfast and a great seafood buffet in the evening
- The beacy at the BCV is great
- Watch fireworks from the bridge
- Free Vallet - really nice during checkin (groceries..)
- Beaches and cream

Big River Grill is a great place to sit and have a quick and easy lunch/dinner or appetizers. Wait for an outside table--it is well worth it.
Many people on the restaurant board complain about Big River's food. We think it is good to very good, depending on what you order. Our favorites are the meatloaf and the chicken/walnut salad. The atmosphere of sitting on the boardwalk viewing Epcot in the background, eating and watching the people stroll by is a very nice vacation experience.

I completely forgot to add one of BWV's great things to do; and that is Jellyrolls!!!! I know you will have young children, but if you do get sometime alone, definitly go to Jellyrolls. It is a lot of fun. There is a great child care center at YC/BC and also the Poly's child care center is a favorite of many WDW's preschool set. There is also in room baby sitting available-which has received equally good reviews.
Have a great trip. The Epcot resorts are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
