We will be staying in a one bedroom villa November 26th-December 2 we have a 2 year old and a 6 month old. I have seen many posts regarding the long hallways. I am thinking because of two strollers we should request a ground floor? I am not sure this is possible? And close to the elevator? does anyone know of a good room number?

Thanks for your advice

Requesting a specific "room number" might be a bit much to expect.
At most an area or floor.
Like ground floor or near elevator. Something more general like that.

You narrow your request to 1 specific room and your not likely to get it
because the chances of someone checking out on the same day you check in and it not have been given out before your arrive, are very slim.

I appreciate the comment...won't request a specific room just looking for some ideas...wondering if they have a room near lunar pool ? ground floor or if requesting a room near the elevator is more likely to be honored than ground floor?

I was worried about the same thing, we just stayed at the Boardwalk Villas, 1 bdrm preferred view and I decided to just take a chance with my room assignment...I didn't make a request because I really wasn't sure about the resort...had never stayed there.

I traveled with DS 4 and DD 2 and MIL (NOT a walker...uh!!)...we had a double stroller to contend with.

I was concerned with the noise also, but we ended up getting a wonderful room (newly remodeled), on the 5th floor (room 5091) not too far from the elevators overlooking the quiet pool and canal with a great view of HS Tower of Terror.

I just took my chances but I thought it was really great and not too far from anything, nice and quiet too (as my kids still nap).

Have a wonderful trip!!!

That sounds really great....did your children enjoy the quiet pool?
It looks like there are different buildings is that correct it is hard to tell by the map...

The BWI and BWV are basically all one building divided by the lobby. The villas have several different wings so that is maybe what you are seeing on a map. The entire villa side is serviced by one bank of three elevators.

Did you book through CRO or with DVC Points? If with DVC points, your reservation should be for standard, preferred pool/garden or boardwalk view. If with CRO, there really isn't a specific view but most get pool/garden.

NOt sure what CRO means but we did not book with DVC points we book through Mouse Made Simple?

So That means pool or garden view?

By all means if you know the room numbers, request a specific room. We do that all the time and I usually get the room I want! That being said, it's just hubby and myself and we go allllllllll they way down those halls to "Catch a Wave" ... translates to room 5001 or 4001 which is a long walk but close to the back staircase. If you have the numbers and want to be close to the elevators I suggest you specifically ask. Boardwalk is wonderful at accommodating it's guests.

CRO = Central Reservations Office, where Disney reservations are made. Sounds like you booked through a travel agent, so that would be CRO, not DVC points.

The Pool or Garden views extend the entire length of the resort so some can be very far from the elevators. I would request close to the elevators. I would not request a specific room #, if that room is already occupied it's meaningless.

See this map (courtesy of Granny):
The pool/garden views are in red. The elevators are in the center between the red and the green.

I have not seen any mention of ground floor rooms near the pool ( lunar pool or quiet pool)
I have seen some bad reviews as well re: rooms being "worn out" does anyone know which villas have been remodeled?
Mea

I stayed in a 1bdrm Rm 4009 in Feb. It was not worn out at all (and BFF said pull out couch was very comfortable).
We did have a bit of a walk down the hall, but it wasn't a problem; but I didn't have any kids with or a double stroller!
Our view overlooked the lobby and you could see Illuminations over the tree tops.

I do recall there being room on the ground floor walking out to the pool. I;m not sure I'd want that room if traveling with little ones - I'd be worried about nighttime noise.

I went in September and was placed in a room on the ground floor that viewed the community center/quiet pool. It was a small, dark and cramped room IMO and I was worried about noise. I called the desk and requested the room I had the last time I was there and they gave it to me! I was glad, too, because I don't think I would have enjoyed that room.

Last March we stayed in a 1 br, Room 2095. The second floor is actually the same level as the lobby so we didn't have to take the elevator to get to our room. If you look at the picture DebbieB provided, it is at the end of the middle arm looking out toward the quiet pool and the community hall. I liked that we were in an end unit with an extra little window to provide light and a large balcony.

I wouldn't suggest asking for a specific room but with strollers, the second floor might be handy since you wouldn't have to mess with the elevator.

Have a great trip! We're staying here again next March. :thumbsup2

Ground level may not be so great...especially by Luna Park. There is a lot of vegetation in front of the rooms, so getting a stroller in or out isn't going to be doable. Ground level also means that you have to take the elevator down from the lobby, which is on level 2.
I would just ask for a villa that is closer to the elevators. I had a studio that overlooked Luna Park, and it wasn't very far down the hallway at all...fairly quick walk.
But, I will say, I have been in the *001 rooms...hated being that far down. Yes, it was quicker to DHS but it was a loooong walk from the elevators returning at night. No way was I climbing all those stairs at the end of the day. But, it sure was quiet down there.

We just had a 1 bedroom on the ground floor, right by the Luna pool. I think it was room 1118, or 1119. Our room faced the keister coaster. I personally liked the ground floor room, as we were right by the exit doors, and could easily get to the path to DHS. We could sit on our balcony and watch our boys swim in the pool. It was a long walk thru the hallways, as our room was on the very end, but we just used the exit doors and cut thru the pool area when going to Epcot, or the boardwalk area. Our villa was remodeled, and very nice.

We've had a room on top of the wave before!
Be careful of rooms near the elevators because the ding ding can get annoying. Also, there are those people who are using their "outside" voices when either getting on or off the elevator.

Thanks for all of the suggestions-after reading them all I think second floor would work out the best for us with strollers etc.

The Boardwalk is on level one and there is also an exit on level one near the bus stop. So if you are on the ground floor, you don't have to go through the lobby to go to either the boardwalk or the bus stop.

If you are on the second floor, you will need to take steps or the elevator to get to the boardwalk. You could go out through the lobby to the bus stop. When you exit the lobby to get to the bus stop, it is downhill. So you can reach the bus stop from either the first or second floor without an elevator. The first floor exit is at the bottom of the hill.
