Boardwalk Villa Question

We have a studio, guaranteed Boardwalk/Crescent Lake view. Will we be close to the elevators? Heard they could be quite a walk if you're not near them.

It could be at the far end of the Boardwalk and quite a walk. If being near the elevator is very important to you, you can add it as a request to your reservation. Be aware it is a request only ..

Since there is only one set of elevators at the BWV, and it is close to the lobby and the Luna Park pool, you probably would not be very close to the elevators. If you have a room that overlooks the crouquet lawn (between BWV and BWI), you might be closer to the elevator.

Some rooms are close to the elevator. Our boardwalk view 1 bedroom last December was about 5 doors down from the elevator, on the corner of the Boardwalk and Village Green. One time we had a room facing the canal at the very end of the hall next to Jellyrolls (we booked it as standard view), it really wasn't that bad. There is a pair of steps there to make a quick exit.

We are staying at BWV's also and have a guaranteed boardwalk view. These steps you mention, are they anywhere near the guest parking lot by chance? Can you get to the parking lot if you use them rather than the elevators? Thanks.

Once when we requested to be close to the elevator we just got first floor and were still at the very end of the corridor. We've always been put down at the end no matter what view we've requested. It can be quite a hike. We have left to get to the parking lot from the end but it's not terribly convenient because we usually have a stroller.

From the map of BWV that I have, the Boardwalk view is probably the furthest from the parking lot. Except for those few by the Village Green. The standard views and the community pool views are closest to the parking lot.

There are steps on the end near the parking lot, but they take you into the standard view and quiet pool view areas, not near the Boardwalk view rooms. The steps from the Jellyrolls end take you out near the bridge that goes over to the Swan/Dolphin.

Jellyrolls is Q on the map. The elevator would be J on the map. Your room could be anywhere from K to P on the map.

I think the walking distance is overblown. It's no more than walking down Main Street. If you can do that, you can walk from the elevator to your room.

Are you a DVC member? If so, you get free valet parking (just need to tip). If you are renting points, they may waive the fee if they code your room key as member (You normally have to show the blue member card. I've never been asked for my blue card when staying at BWV since the parking permit says "member"). When you are leaving the resort, if you call the valet desk from your room, your car will usually be there by the time you get there.

We are just renting points. I don't mind paying for the valet service when we are coming and going. It's the times we have to run out to the car for something forgotten. LoL I heard that there is a handicap lot a bit closer. I do have a handicap placard since I walk with a cane sometimes. (fibromyalgia) Is this true? And do you have to pay to park there? Yes, if you have a handicap placard, you should be able to valet park for free. Just provide a tip. My husband likes to tip both ways, $2 when he leaves the car and $2 when he picks it up.

Thanks Deb. That is nice that Disney allows free valet for the handicap. There is only one parking lot then? Is this for both guests and visitors? What would happen if we did not use valet and the lot would be full?

If the lot is full, it's full - you will get directed to the lot across the street, which is a long walk from the resorts. If the self-lot is full, you will definitely want to valet park (even if you have to pay). The "closer" self-parking lot generally clears out after IllumiNations. I wish the BW managment would not allow non BWI/BWV guests to park in the BW lots if they are going to EPCOT, but I suppose they can't figure out how to enforce it without negatively impacting the BW merchants/restaurants.

I do not know if the parking situation has improved since the advent of Magical Express - it is possible that less people have cars. Since you can valet park for only a tip, my advice is to just plan on doing that.

FWIW, the best views of IllumiNations from a BWV balcony are the rooms farthest from the elevators.
