My family is planning a trip in June. We are going to splurge and stay at the Boardwalk. Has anyone stayed in a studio at the BWV? Are the sleep sofas comfortable? Is it worth the extra money to upgrade to a 1bedroom for the jacuzzi and washer/dryer? Has anyone stayed in a specific room that you can recommend?

Thanks for any help.

We are DVC members and have stayed at BWV - the sofa was very very comfortable and we loved the room. I would NOT recommend the 2nd floor BW view as you are right on the Boardwalk and it could get really really loud.

As for a 1BR - if we stay more than a few days then the kitchen is GREAT - we are doing a 2BR at VWL in two weeks and the washer and dryer is worth the extra points!

The sleep-sofas weren't especially comfortable last time I was there, but I believe they've been replaced since. FWIR, they're still not as comfortable as a bed, so keep that in mind.

Whether the upgrade is worth it is a personal judgement. I say YES. We're four adults, going in February 2007, and we're staying in a 2BR, because we love having the extra room, not only the washer/dryer. (I wouldn't put much value on the jacuzzi tub, quite frankly.)

We stayed in a Boardwalk studio Thanksgiving week. My boys found the sofa bed to be comfortable as did my 12yo and 14yo nephews who stayed w/ their parents in a studio. The mattresses for the sofa bed are the memory foam type. My parents stayed in a one bedroom and they really liked all the room. I guess depending on how old your kids are and how much privacy you need, it might be worth the one bedroom. We did fine in a studio, but I imagine as the boys get older, we will all want more room and more privacy.

Welcome to the Dis Boards!:cool1:

We have stayed at the BWV many times and just love the place!

If the price isn't a problem I would go for the one bedroom instead of a studio. There is so much more room! You can fill the fridge with snacks, soda and water and save a good bit.

We like staying on the upper floors with views of the quiet pool. Some of these rooms can be a long walk from the lobby, so if you have small kids they may not be ideal, but they are nice and quiet.

We stayed in a studio last October. DD9 slept on the fold out couch and DD11 slept on the day bed. The kids had no complaints about comfort. DH and I used the queen bed and it was near perfect. The studios have a kitchenette with a microwave, refrigerator, sink, and coffee-maker. My SIL stayed in a 1-bedroom villa. It was real nice and offers privacy away from the kids. I used my SIL's laundry facilities which were quite convenient. It has a kitchen but I prefer the kitchenette. I might splurge for the 1-bedroom villa when the kids are older but I found the studio was all we needed.

We were in room 5065. It was close to the elevators and had a partial view of the Boardwalk. We loved the location.

Whatever your decision, you will love BWV.

Don't let the sofa bed scare you. We stayed at the BWV right after Thanksgiving and honestly, my dd's sofa bed was at least as comfortable as the regular bed. I wanted to sleep in it after I laid down on it to try it out. Super comfy!!!

When my parents and I went to Epcot a few years back we stayed in a 1 bedroom Villa. I slept on the sofa bed and don't remember thinking anything bad about it. Having the kitchenette was great: we always picked up desserts in Epcot (either from the French or Norway pavillion) and then stored the left overs for breakfast the next morning. The washer and dryer were great; mostly the dryer because it rained everyday so we were able to dry out our shoes and clothes.

The one-bedroom villa wins hands down. As for the studio, I'd rather have a room with two beds at Boardwalk Inn. The decor, furnishings and appointments are much nicer at the Inn -- and no one has to sleep on a sofa bed that way. The appeal of DVC studios is lost on me.

I haven't stayed in a studio but we stayed in a 1 bedroom and loved it. It seemed so spacious compared to regular resort rooms. It gave the kids room to spread out. It was nice to have a kitchen and I did laundry a couple of times.

We were on the first floor so we had a patio which the kids enjoyed.

The sofa beds were being replaced this past Oct. when we were there. Both of my kids thought they felt great. One bedrooms at BWV are wonderful---but be careful they can spoil you so you will not want a regular resort room again!

... Has anyone stayed in a specific room that you can recommend?

Thanks for any help.

You don't want to request a specific room because the odds of getting that room and that room only is very slim.

Are you staying on DVC points or renting directly from Disney and CRO? Boardwalk views and standard views are usually booked up by members. That leaves the preferred view which is a water view - either Luna Park (themed pool) or the leisure pool (quiet pool).

Funny you mention the pull out sofa beds...when we stayed last Oct for 5 nights...DD and I slpet in the bed while DH was relegated to the pull out sofa. I was ready to hear some complaining, as he is VERY picky about his bedding. he commented several times during the trip that the sofa bed was very comfortable...he kept trying to figure out what kind of mattress they use, how the springs were positioned...it was funny to watch him dissect the bed trying to figure out why it was so comfy.

We stayed in a one bedroom villa at BWV and it was wonderful:yay: I loved having the convenience of a washer and dryer in the room. We had almost all of our laundry done before we went home. My DD was two and insisted on being carried a lot during this trip. I ended up with a very sore back and used the jacuzzi tub to help with this. The kingsize bed was very comfortable as well. I loved the villas and if you can afford I would pick the one bedroom over the studio.
