The long walks at Boardwalk can be daunting. Do you lose anything by requesting near elevators? People talk about balconies that are such that you cannot see the view very well, or are noisy.

I have almost always gotten standard, but for next December, BW was the best I could get. Should I make any requests?

Well here's the thing about boardwalk view (which I book almost exclusively), most rooms are past the grand villas so there is no real "close to elevator". From the elevator you're going past the village green rooms, then the grand villas before you hit everything else.

For example I always request high floor/close to elevator and book 2 bedrooms. That has always gotten me above Big River Grille area. There are a few other closer 2br but they are on the second floor.

Edit to add: Here is Shamus graphic of room locations:BWV_BoardwalkView (1).jpg

Thank you! We have owned BWV since 2003, have stayed many times, only once, and for one night only in a BW view studio. 90%of the times standard view.

We bought that same year. I've only done standard a handful of times (before we added more pts there in 05) and have never stayed p/g view!

We had 5013 last year. It’s one of the studios furthest from the elevators with a BW view and it had one of those obstructed balconies. There aren’t a lot of BW view studios...only two on the first floor, ten on the second floor and six on each of the third, fourth and fifth floors. Only the second floor has any studios that are “close to elevator” and they also have the obstructed balcony views. They are located below one of the grand villas.

We're doing the opposite - always booked BW view & are staying SV for our first time in May (saving over 150 pts a year this way).
We would always request near elevator, and would almost always get rooms x028 or x031. If you want a better view, request upper floor. Personally we request lower, as we prefer using the stairs (& walking 5 floors up isn't fun anymore  ). Like Marionette said, the solid wall balconies are below the GVs, on the 2nd floor - we like the privacy of the 1/2 wall, but most prefer the fenced balconies.

Most of the BWV charts are fuzzy/difficult to read, but a google search should bring up a certain clear one that cannot be linked here.

I stayed in a boardwalk view studio last month, I put in a request for 5029, 5031, 4029, 4031, 3029, 3031. Got 4029. This puts you right above the beginning of Big River and these all have open balconies. I've had more luck listing multiple room numbers than a generic request. I've done this at VGC and most time get a park view.

Is it typically far for the garden pool view? Looking to stay here for the first time

There are tons of garden/pool view so you could be close or far or somewhere in between. We've had good luck saying 'near elevator.'

We had a one bedroom pool view once, next to the Attic. It was a very long walk. Some garden views are near elevators. For instance, the Village Green ones are near the elevators!

I‘m looking forward to this girls visit. It’s primarily because one friend has not been in December. This past December I had other “first time December“ friends and it was a great visit.

Thanks... we stayed at Animal Kingdom in 2018 and the walk was really long... along with the bus trip it was far! We hope the central location of BWV will be a nice change. We were looking at GFV but they were all booked

I gave up trying to stay at GFV in December. We booked a Merrytime DCL Cruise for next November and decided to sandwich the cruise using GFV. I THINK someone was walking even then, but I got a SV studio for before, and SV one bedroom after so we could do laundry.

I’m staying in 1 bedroom boardwalk view what is a good room to request with a good view and good balcony on a high floor

The problem with requesting a specific room number is that the room assigner doesnt really have an idea of what you want if they can’t give you that room,

IMO, it’s better to keep requests more generic like high floor, etc. I like the lower floor balconies because they are closed in and private but you have to stand to see everything, and like to be as close to elevator as I can.

But, for views, higher floors are definitely better.

I have just lucked out and had many of these rooms over the years.

Great get.

Enjoy Bobbi. Crossing my fingers for you.:flower3:

I own at BWV and AKV. The actual distance of the walk from the end boardwalk view rooms to the elevator is about 1/3 of the distance of the walk from the end rooms on the north wing of Kidani to the lobby. When I just owned BWV, I thought the walk was rather long. I now consider it quite short.

There are no boardwalk view rooms actually "close to the elevator," since, from the elevator, you need to first walk down a long hallway past all the pool/garden view studios that overlook the Village Green.

If I have a 1BR boardwalk view, I would never request close to elevator because the first boardwalk 1BRs are right ar the end of the first hallway before the turn and actually have a more mediocre Village Green view rather than boardwalk view. The better request would be for a dedicated 1BR over the portion of the store called Character Carnival. If you have a GV, it is pointless to ask for near the elevator because they are all close to each other in the same area. If you have a 2BR or studio, the rooms nearest the elevator are those over the main store which are on the second floor and have the wooden balconies from which you cannot see the boardwalk when sitting down. If you actually want one of those 2BRs or studios, perhaps request near the elevators but you could also just request a second floor room over the store (or below the GVs). If you want one of the studios that is just pass the GVs and thus not too long of a walk, then you might just request a dedicated studio.

Well, I am glad I did get the BW view, and I think I will just request higher floor. Two of us will have ECVs and the others seem to be happy walking!

In my long 23 years with BWV, during which many of my requests have been met but many apparently ignored, I have found that just requesting higher floor and nothing else has succeeded far more than any others.
