Boardwalk View - Noisy???

Just made ressies for BWv in October. 1 BR Pref View. I am thinking about requesting a BW view, but I am wondering if it will be noisy. I have a 5yr old DD who will end up going to bed around 10-10:30 (if she takes a nap). Will the noise be a problem?

My hubby is a VERY light sleeper. We have overlooked Boardwalk on 2 trips - once only on the 2nd floor - and once the door to the balcony is shut you can't hear a thing except the distant toot of the boat crossing the lake.

We had a BW view once and when the bar closed up that night, we heard noise from a group of young adults that were having fun pushing each other into the shrubs. Other then that, it was quiet.......spruce

I love the Boardwalk view, but have to say that I always find it very noisy. Between the boardwalk games, the bar goers, the restaurant below, and the boats that start tooting early and stop late, it keeps dd awake, and me as well.

I always stay with BW view, but have to adjust to the noise each time. I also feel that I need a vacation from my vacation. I might be very sensitive to noise.

I was there last January with a friend and found it very noisy. There was a jazz quartet walking around entertaining people and they parked right under our window and went on until about 10:30. I figured if it's that bad in January, it must really be bad when the crowds come in. I bought at BCV because I figured it would be quieter but still give us access to the Boardwalk area.

It's noisy. We still prefer the bw view though. Our girls have a hard time going to sleep with the noise. We usually turn the t.v. on for them to go to sleep to - its monotonous sound helps them drift off to sleep. Otherwise the party noise would keep them up all night. We're going back next month to a bw view (for 7/4 - wahoo) - it's still the best view.

Noisy is a relative term. If you live in a quiet area, you might find it noisy. If, like us, you sleep in the front bedroom in a rowhome along a busy street (police cars all night, school busses all morning, and two dogs who bark at all of them), it's probably a litle too quiet.

Our last stay was on the 3rd floor just above the micro-brewry outdoor dining area and the noise from those dining and the ringing bells of the water gams on the Boardwalk,were pretty loud and sometimes annoying when we tried to relax with the balcony door open. The horns from the boats seemed loud at times even with the door losed, but remember, we're from Indiana where on a good day we can hear the corn grow!

we stayed in BWV in January (slow time). It was not loud - both my boys were able to sleep just fine. Enjoy!

We had BW view down towards the night clubs. We knew when they closed because of the noise of the patrons stumbling out! The boat toots didn't bother us as much because we woke and said "We're in WDW"! We've had pool view overlooking Luna and I liked that better. It was fun to watch the kids at the pool and wasn't as noisy at night. But now I try for standard view to save points.

We loved the sounds of activity during the day and once you close the balcony door you don't hear a sound until.......the clubs close and also the sound of maintenance workers early am awakened me. I was too lazy to get up and investigate but it was either a machine cleaning the boardwalk or a garbage truck, I heard that beeping sound that trucks make when they back up.
My kids were light sleepers when they were young and I think I'd pick a different location.

Thanks to all for the replies. Now the obvious question is, does any have any specific room recommendations for a 1 BR Boardwalk view? I would love to be able to see Epcot, but if this means that we will be right over the night clubs, I'm not sure if it would be worth it.

Also, in your experience, what are my chances in actually getting the specific room that I request?

The only think I know is that I want to be closer to the front of the hotel. On our trip last month, we were all the way at the end of the BWV wing overlooking the valet lot. It took us about 10 mins to walk to the elevators. The only advantage to that was it was quiet and was close to the walkway to MGM.
