Boardwalk lovers- Is the boardwalk view worth the extra points? We love  the Boardwalk itself, and think the view would be worth it, but are wondering if it really is worth it. Can you see the activity well? Also, are there any downfalls to a boardwalk view that I might not be thinking of?

Trip Insurance- Does anyone have experience with it? We are thinking that we should probably get it just in case since we would be travelling in January-between snow and germs, we are thinking it might just be worth it. Any pros/cons I might not be thinking of. It doesn't seem that expensive so I do need to do more research. Has anyone had a bad experience with it?

I love the boardwalk view! The view is spectactular! It's fun to sit out at night and hear the rolling piano guy and the other activity. The downsides are it can be noisy. I always request top floor but have ended up on all floors except 1. One time I was on 2 in the summertime and people were out talking and carrying on way past midnight. Some of the boardwalk views are a long way from the elevator.

I noticed your home resort is AKV. It might be difficult getting a boardwalk view at 7 months, although not impossible depending on the time of year.

I called back got a 1 bedroom, boardwalk view- end of Jan. (same dates as my AKL)

I decided that I should probably just go ahead and book it now just in case it wasn't there by the end of the day. I said I wanted to stay at each resort, so I'm hoping its as good as I think!

The view is the reason we bought resale at BWV. IMHO, there is no better view in WDW. (Haven't seen the MK view at BLT yet, but I personally don't think it will compare.)

The only complaint I've heard is the noise that some people have mentioned, but we were on the 3rd floor on our last trip and the noise did not bother us. Actually, the only noise we heard were the boat horns, and we didn't mind them at all.

We always book BW view. We are not commando park goers anymore so we spend some time on the balcony. I actually like it just as much in the morning as the BW comes to life as I do in the evening for entertainment and fireworks.
A couple of times we have noticed noise but closing the heavy drapes made a big difference.

My preference is if a standard view is available, to save points and book that. The Boardwalk view is nice, but I don't spend a lot of time looking out my window. It can also be loud. If I want to wow guests, we book Boardwalk View

But if I don't have a standard view available, I'd take Boardwalk view over Preferred View. Some of the Preferred Views are pretty bad, and Luna Park is a noisy or noisier than the Boardwalk if you end up overlooking that.

Preferred (non-Boardwalk) view is a last choice for us.

I love BW view! I am sad that my next stay will be standard view. Hoping I get one down by the parking lot in hopes of seeing some fireworks!

We had stayed many times at the YC with the water view,so when we decided to buy DVC we tried the BWV (had 1 bedroom pool view)and knew the BWV with the option of the Boardwalk view was for us:thumbsup2:cool1::cool1::cool1:

So the noise - is it dealable with earplugs? Seriously - I travel a lot for work and they're a godsend....
Also newbie here - I have a preferred view booked - anything I should avoid?
Requested refurb pool view...aside from the noise - which I can deal with - anything else to be wary about...
Very excited about the stay - wanted to try it out and potentially an add-on - We're into the F&W and location can't be beat - stayed at Beach Club last year before members and liked it but - as we don't have kids...the pool wasn't a big deal...so BWV seemed a better option...

There really aren't more points required for the BW view at BWV. They are still part of the preferred view (not standard view which has a view of the main drive and parking lot). The standard view is only about 20% of the total villas. BW view is also about 20% of the total villas.

Noise is a very subjective thing. A lot of people don't find the Boardwalk noisy at all. We find it "noticeable but generally tolerable" even with the windows and drapes closed (except during Illuminations - the whole place is noisy when its that close to the fireworks - we wait until Illuminations is over to try and get kids to go to sleep). There have been a few nights when loud drunks have been loud enough to disturb sleep - but I live in a quiet suburb where the crickets are generally the only thing making noise past 10pm. When I lived in the city - the level of noise from the Boardwalk wouldn't have even been noticeable.

As to anything to avoid....we've had lousy luck with room requests - as in they seem to do their best to make sure we don't get them with the exception of our last trip. A lot of DISers seem to like overlooking the community pool. The back side of the Keister Coaster isn't much of a view. The few preferred view rooms that are adjacent to standard view rooms (something has to be a boundary) have left some wondering why they spent extra points. And a few have reported that some corner rooms leave you looking into someone else's window - I don't know precisely what rooms those are though.

I can attest the wonders of Trip Insurance purchased through Disney. I have had the unfortunate circumstance that we had use the insurance on our last trip.

I left my camera bag on the plane, realized it when we got home. I figured it would be safe. My Dh called the next morning at the crack of dawn and of course it was gone. I lost my brand new video camera, my digital camera, two memory cards, my cell phone and my brand new Mickey camera bag, I bought on our trip. I was reimbursed for everything. I provided reciept for the video camera which I got a 100% back, then they prorated the cost of my digital camera and cell phone because they were several years old. The process was very easy and received the check in about 3 weeks after the claim was filed.

I will never travel without it. We have traveled 3 times purchasing the insurance through WDW. It is worth every penny.

Cons to the plan. You may never need it, which then will be a couple hundred $ wasted.
