Leaving Sunday for BWV and was lucky enough to get the super low standard view room rate.

Is there any requests I should make for a room? I'm not too picky, but I really don't know what the standard view rooms overlook.

Any help from the lovely vets would be great.

The Standard Views look out over the entry drive and parking lots. There really is no view that's better than another here. If you prefer a higher or lower floor you could always request that.

Sure you know the drill; a request is just a request within the booking category and no guarantee of an exact room can be made . . .

Maybe this can give you a bit further insight :

We stayed in 3121 a 1 bedroom villa dedicated with standard view which overlooked wide lawn area and canal / bridge of main entrance road. It is set back enough distance from main entrance road so you do not feel as if you are "curbside" so to speak. There was a large tree across from our balcony.

This villa is located at end of building furthest from lobby so it will be a long walk through hallway to elevators but there is a stairway directly across that we'd take down to path which crossed the lawn & found it to be a very convenient way to get to bus stop as well as parking area and also to villas quiet pool/community hall. Standard views that overlook lawn area closest to lobby can be noisey because of vehicles arriving/leaving lobby entrance area. Which is why I would suggest rooms numbers _ _ "20 something" or higher 'teens.

3123 was next villa rounding the corner at far end of the building and this is a 1 bedroom dedicated standard view as well. If you are booked for a studio standard view try asking for numbers in the high 'teens into 'twenties if you wish to be located toward this end such as 3119 or 3113 - not exactly sure if these are studios but there will be some in this range. We have also had a standard view studio with virtually the same view as 3121/3123 ( think it was 2117 ) & second floor is the lobby level so you wouldn't need to take elevators but would still have long walk through hall to lobby.

I'm not a BWV expert ( sorry it's not our home resort :sad1: ) but I think some standard view rooms face quiet pool as well. Also, my daughter and her friends had an obstructed view studio of Luna Park pool that I was sure was a standard view as well.

BW is such a great resort IMHO I don't think you will find yourself disappointed.

The standard view rooms stretch along the side of BWV that faces the lobby entrance, entry drive, and parking lots.

Some standard view rooms have a nice view of lawns, a pond, and the bridge over the pond, with the parking lots beyond all that. But such rooms involve a long, long walk through the hallways of BWV.

Some standard view rooms are right by the entrance canopy, with valet activity, Magical Express bus drop-off and pick-ups, taxis, and guests coming and going. Such rooms are very convenient to the elevators, and do not require walks down long hallways. But if the activity and associated noise bothers you, then these rooms might not be a good idea.

My understanding is that all rooms that are not on the side facing the parking lot are officially either BoardWalk view or pool/garden view.

There may be cases when a guest with a standard view reservation is assigned to the pool/garden category, such as when the siding was being redone on the standard view side or if there's some other reason why too few standard view rooms are unavailable. In such a case, it would be done for the convenience of the resort, not to reward the guest.

For standard view, I always request top floor, across from the bus stop. You get a great view of the fireworks from Illuminations.

Rooms over the quiet pool are pool/garden not standard. There are also some obstructed pool views that are classified as pool/garden, much to the dismay of people who are assigned them.

Here's a layout of the room classifications at BWV. As you can see, Standard View rooms are in green:

Excellent map. I'm thinking about winging it and hoping for some Disney Magic. I stayed at BWV last November in a preferred view room, and scored one directly off the elevator overlooking the greenspace along the Boardwalk (that little slab of red you have in there).

I think I'll just play wait and see!

You read my mind when you posted this map! I just booked a standard room at BWV this morning! I was wondering where we might end up.

Thanks!

We stayed in a std studio on ground floor and it was delightful to us. We were about four doors from laundry with exercise room just beyond that. We were located close to both the main pool and the quiet pool. Our view was over the wide lawn leading to the main drive.

It was a quiet location, but very centrally located. I felt very lucky to get such a great rate and was very happy with our accomodations. Hope it works out for you as well.

That map is great. Despite being DVC owners for a few years, we haven't managed to venture over to BWV or BCV, so I don't know the area at all. We would like to try to stay there on our next trip. On that map, which direction is Epcot and which is MGM? Thanks.

essentially, EPCOT is right and DHS is left (Disney removed the "MGM" affiliation, ans is now Disney Hollywood Studios)

Thanks...I keep forgetting about the DHS, I guess since I haven't been there since the change. It will sink in then.

The only BWV standard room I've ever been less than thrilled about was a handicap room just behind the elevators on the ground floor. Technically it was poolside, but it was behind the pool bar building. The handicap part meant there was a folding seat taking up a large portion of the shower, and ramps at most of the entries. Quite livable, but I prefer to get the ones with normal fixtures facing the parking lots.

We recently stayed in room 3064 which had a view of Luna pool if they would have moved that great big tree that was in the way :rotfl2:

This was considered a standard view, at least that's what we payed for.
