We just stayed in a standard 1BR at BWV the second week in December. Thanks to some advice on these boards, we requested upper floor, corner unit. Unfortunately, those were occupied, but we got the room next to what we requested (asked for 3123 or 4123). We got 3121 and, if there wasn't a tree growing right in front of our balcony the Illuminations view would have been outstanding. We still saw the fireworks every night, we just had to watch through the leaves and branches! I'm trying to find some pictures to post.
The room was great though, as it was our first time with a 1BR (we usually get studios). It was almost (dare I say it) too much room for 2 adults and 2 small children (2yrs & 5yrs) on a short visit. Couldn't beat the point value, though. Only 16 points for a 1BR!
We did miss the boardwalk view, though. In October we stayed on the 5th floor, in a studio. I can't remember the room number, but it was almost the last room at the very end of the boardwalk (under the waves) by the Atlantic Dance Hall. The view was spectacular!!
