First time staying at Boardwalk DVC... any pros/cons/feedback about room selection? Never having stayed there before we are looking for info about what the rooms in all areas are like. Booking with points if that makes a difference... Thanks.

When are you staying?

If you have a car, parking is horrid at BWV. And if you go during a time when there are happenings at Epcot, there will be a lot of people trying to avoid paying for parking at Epcot, so they sneak into the BW parking lot area.

All two bedroom villas at BWV are lockoffs - a combination of a studio and a one bedroom villa. Hallways can be very long. There is only one elevator bank centrally located.

Not many counter service dining. You have to go out to the BW for the Bakery, Candy Store, pizza window, etc. There is a location in the BW that offers limited breakfast offerings. But you can go over to Epcot or the other side of the water (BC/YC/D/S side) and eat at those counter service.

Leisure pool (quiet pool) is nice with Community Hall right there. Not a big fan of Luna Park, but it can be nice to look out on at night.

If you booked with DVC points, then you either have a standard, preferred pool/garden, or Boardwalk view. Which do you have? Can't answer your question as to room selection without knowing this. ;)

And if you haven't yet booked....

Boardwalk View is a great view - maybe a little busy and noisy for some, but one of the great bargains at Disney - for the same number of points as BCV or VWL or Preferred View BWV you get a guarenteed good view and every room is pretty darn good. However, its only about 20% of the resort (and all the Grand Villas), so at busy times of year for DVC, they book very quickly.

Standard View is the other great DVC bargain - the views aren't bad - overlooking the front drive, but the location of the resort and the really low point cost make it a favorite. Again, however, only about 20% of the resort and will book quickly.

Boardwalk isn't actually hard to get except a few times of year (basically late September through Christmas) for non-owners, but what is usually available (except for a few other times of year - like mid-January) is the remaining 60% of the resort - Preferred View. The rooms are nice, views vary, the resort is in the same location.

Most people booking the Boardwalk will try for one of the first two categories depending on how frugal they want to be with their points. If neither is available, they'll book Preferred View.

We stayed at BWV for the 1st time last October. We had a Preferred View room with a view of the quiet pool & canal, which we loved! We prefer the quiet at the end of a busy day. When we wanted some noise, we could easily walk to the main pool or Boardwalk.

We had a rental car and got a room close to the parking lot. We never found parking to be that bad, even though there was a convention, a wedding & F&WF going on. The lots were manned with guards who were checking parking tags at each lot entrance.

The ability to walk to 2 parks was really nice and the main reason we're looking to buy a BWV add-on :goodvibes

Hope you have a great trip!!!!

actually, they have restricted parking in the main resort lot to BWV/BWI resort guests only during the F&WF for the past few years. we were surprised and thrilled that they also started restricting parking in april/may (during the F&GF) this past year. we have been able to get within the first few spots of a row without waiting. btw, friends and relatives have told us that they have had no problems getting spots at other times during the past few years.

parking is easy-beezy there now :)

BWV is an amazing resort, with lots to do (although one of our favorite things to do is just relax, lay by the quiet pool with a margarita, and bask in the elegance and beauty of the place:cloud9:).
we love BW view rooms (only about 10% of resort, and available only with DVC points - they book quickly). there is no view like it: waking up to the boardwalk, the sun shimmering on the lake with spaceship earth in the background, watching illuminations fireworks burst over the eiffel tower....pure heaven.
what size villa and view, and when are you planning?

Are there many two bedroom villas available at BW? And is there a specific area that I should request? Would facing the walk way going towards Hollywood Studio be a preferred view? We do not really want to face the boardwalk as we have little ones with us. Any suggestions would be great.

All two bedroom villas at BWV are lockoffs. What did you book and when are you going? If you are using points and are still more than 11 months out, you could book a standard view or BW view. Standard view looks out at the parking lot and across the front of the resort.

BW view looks out on the BW.

All the rest are preferred, non-BW view. Luna Park view, Leisure pool view, Village Green view are all preferred non-BW view. About 60% of the total villas.

So far we just booked a standard studio for our first night. Our family is joining us on the 2nd of January and we were a few points short for preferred view. Tomorrow I get to book another 7 days. I am hoping we get all our nights that we want (2nd-15 of January).

You booked one studio for just you and are hoping on getting a two bedroom for seven nights starting tomorrow? Right? I think I understand now.

I own at BWV, standard view 2 bedrooms are currently soldout for most of those nights. Only January 5, 7 & 8 are available. Pool/Garden view is available except for January 12. Boardwalk view is available for Jan 3-10, soldout Jan 11, 12, 13.

Availability may change if boardwalk members move reservations to other resorts at the 7 month mark but it's likely you will have to waitlist.

Thank you DebbieB!! We tried this morning and were disappointed to see the availability. We booked our first week at OKW instead. We do we really like it there. Hoping to stay somewhere new for the second week....does not look like it will be BWV....maybe BCV? We wanted our kids to be able to see us run the marathon by the hotel.
