Boardwalk restaurants...

I am taking a cruise in Oct. and will be near Orlando the day before the cruise. Anywhere to eat dinner w/o paying to get into the parks? I'm drawing a blank. DD? Boardwalk? Any suggestions?

Big River Brewing Company is good.

We really loved Tappas. Did I hear a rumor they were closing? I thought the food was excellent and very well priced. A good value for the area. If you want to spend more money however, nothing beats Shula's at the Dolphin for steak.

You can eat at any of the hotels too, without paying to get into the park, if you can get a reservation.

We pass through Orlando on the way to MIL's condo and have stopped at ESPN Zone on the Boardwalk, Captain Cook's in the Poly twice, Whispering Canyon in The Wildnerness Lodge, and somewhere in the Contemporary. DS just got back from WDW and enjoyed Paradiso 37 at DTD.

On the Boardwalk itself you have Flying Fish, Spoodles (which I think might be closing soon if it hasn't already), ESPN Club, Big River Brewing Co (which had construction going on in it when we were there in July so I'm not sure what the story is there).

Don't forget about all the hotels too....lots of great restaurants that don't need park admission. I'dvote for California Grill personally, alhtough the Yachtsmen Steakhouse in the Y&B Club is nice as well.

The Flying Fish is a favorite of ours. Or if you want to try something at DTD, we love Wolfgang Puck.

you can also take the boat across and hit up the Beach Club and Yatch Club restaurants!! TAke in the fireworks also from one of the benches by the beach!!!

Don't eat the ESPN Zone the food was awful. I don't know about the one in WDW but I know the local has excellent food here Chattanooga.
