Spent Memorial Weekend at the Boardwalk Resort and had a very good time. Resort is fantastic and very large and spread out. We have been through the lobby many times and been to the Boardwalk area many times, but had no idea how large this resort actually was. We were close to one of the quiet pools so we never made it to the main pool, but did take a peek at the main pool and it was extremely crowded so the peace and quiet of the quiet pool was a fair trade off for not having many amenities. The rooms have been updated recently and are neatly appointed. There is a very large closet area that is lighted and very convenient. We had 2 queen beds and they both had plenty of room underneath for storage if needed. The best amenity in the room was the water pressure from the shower head. You could pressure wash your car with this shower head!
Overall we were loved the room, even with a couple creepy crawlers that visited on our final morning. We found a millipede and a spider that look pretty menacing. I recently saw a post in a FB group where someone criticized an offsite hotel because they saw bugs and to stay at Disney instead. I hate to tell that person, but bugs like Disney too and it would be impossible for them to stop them. I would also advise anyone who has never stayed on Disney property to temper your expectations. If you have ever stayed at a $400+ per night room anywhere other than at Disney, you will likely find Disney accommodations not in the same league. Heavily weighted in the pricing for Disney properties is the price for being "in the bubble". I am convinced this convenience adds at least 25% to the nightly room rate, but of course there is no way to tell. Needless to say IMO the room quality/amenities at Disney are not comparable with the price tag but we feel that being in the bubble is well worth the up charge.
The only real drawback we experienced was the lack of stations for refillable mugs. We only found one at the Deli on the Boardwalk. I assume there was one at the main pool but we saw no others. For as many of these resort mugs that they seemingly sell you would think they would make refill stations more available, especially at a resort as expansive as Boardwalk. But that was a small inconvenience as I most definitely appreciate the exercise I get while at Disney.
Overall the Boardwalk is an amazing resort and in addition to being "in the bubble" is in a prime location as it is very close to DHS and within steps of Epcot. The Skyliner is also within walking distance. We will definitely be back!
