Boardwalk Refurbishment

Was there last week on second floor and parts of the second floor were finished and parts not. We got a badly used not rehabbed room.

mrebuck, any chance you took any photos of the renovated Grand Villa. I have one booked for September and are dying to see a renovated one story. We got a peek at a 2 story grand villa in October but the floor plan and furniture layout are a bit different from the one story (which we have requested and praying for some pixie dustpixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:).

I did but haven't had a chance to download them from my camera yet. I'll try to get some posted soon.

Just returned yesterday from a Fantastic Beautiful renovated 1 bedroom #5143 over looking the BW. The renovations have been a good "facelift" to bring it up to the current quality of DVC offerings. We have owned at the BW 11 yrs. and the resort looks as good as the day we bought in.
The new carpeting looks awesome, fresh paint, and the wallpaper -which I was not a fan of originally-complements the new hallways. The striped wallpaper in the hallway really goes good with the patterned wallpaper at the elevator banks. The new bed linnens and curtains what a refreshing change. I can't say enough about the new couch- my most favorite change.
I also like the mismatched armoires in both the living room and master.

I'll be looking forward to any photos you post of the Grand Villa, mrebuck, thanks!!

Thanks for the info. It's exciting to hear how much you liked it. We are looking forward to a December 16th check-in. Hope we get some pixie dust our way for a refurb......

We are at the Boardwalk now. We started out in 3116 -- room had not been rehabed, but wasn't in bad condition. Tonight we came back to our room to ta terrible paint fumes smell. Hubby as asthma and couldn't tolerate the room .. they moved us to the 4th floor (same view .. instead of quiet pool we now over look luna pool) room is upgraded and very nice. I do like the new colors and the new curtains and bedding. New flat screen TV's in living/bedroom and all appliances ave been upgraded. Colors remind me more of Old Key West .. yellows and blues. Some new furniture and appears some has been refurbished with new paint, etc.

We were advised the reason for the paint fumes was they are working on the second floor .. so rehabs are not complete.

I think everyone will like the new look ...

Oh yes, even a new "rain" shower head!

(we were in a dedicated one bedroom (3116) now we are in a one-bedroom with a connecting door.

Does anyone else have any more updates on the BWV room refurbishment? We're checking into a studio on the 28th, standard view. I really want a refurbished room. On our last two visits we were placed in HA rooms at OKW and then at BWV. Those rooms are bad. I obviously understand why they have them but the bathrooms and kitchens are horrible.

We just returned from a 12/16-12/23 stay in rooms 3072, 3074, 3076, and 3078. These are pool view and had not been refurbished. There were several things in poor repair and well-worn. The only issue we called to have fixed was the balcony door that would not lock. It was fixed within one hour. We were hoping for refurbished rooms for this stay and did not get them but were glad we did get our "close to each other" room requests. We still had a great time. The rooms will be great when the re-furb. is done. I didn't see if the workers were working the week we were there, or if they had taken off for the Holidays. They may have been working in a part of the resort away from our rooms.

At the DVC annual meeting, they said it would be done in February. When I was there at the beginning of December, the second floor standard view wing was blocked off at the elevator.

Just returned from Dec. 20-24th stay in 2 Bdroom 1109-1111 Standard view....appeared the end wing 1st floor Standard view has not started on refurbs. Room itself ok....toilet seat cracked...lamp shade broken, just sitting on frame. Everything else in working condition, just a little worn looking.

The crowd for this week was much heavier than our last 3 Christmas trips. Of course there were a lot of discounts and incentives offered this year.

We stayed on the second floor room 2082 2 BR preferred view. It was freshly refurbished.:thumbsup2 We could still smell the paint. It was my first stay home and I was very impressed!!

We stayed in room 2031, studio, amazing boardwalk view and it was refurbished. I think I may have been the first person to sleep on the pull-out couch. I loved the rain shower head! Everything was very clean and fresh. I had never stayed at the BWV before and must say I loved it! Much nicer than I expected. The halls were long, but we were on the same floor as the lobby, so that was nice. :thumbsup2

I'll be looking forward to any photos you post of the Grand Villa, mrebuck, thanks!!

Me, too!

We just had to reschedule our Disney trip (from check-in at Treehouses tomorrow, then on to BLT) because of the winter storm.:sad1:

We were able to get a Grand Villa at BWV, which I've never considered -- didn't even know they had 3BR DVC units there (I thought they were part of the hotel). I can only find a floor plan for the one story. Does anyone know where I can find the floor plan for the 2-story unit? And I would really love to see photos . . .

:goodvibes

krbq.....I found a thread that had a trip report with photos of the 2 floor Grand Villas at the BW that have been renovated. Not sure how to link you to that thread so here it is....posted by cj9200/Disney for DD's 16th with her GF's: Are you Stupid Nuts. The photos of the GV is in post #82. We have a GV booked for my 60th Bday in September with 9 of my best girl friends.....cannot wait for it. We are actually hoping to get a one story GV. Hope we both get what we want!!

Jean and Minster22,

Thank you both for your quick responses! We lucked out and got one at 30 days out for early March. Actually, BWV wasn't what we wanted but since the 3BR was available, we decided to go for it. Now I'm getting excited!

We had to reschedule our trip (we'd be there now) because of the winter storm.
