Easiest and best QS I can get to from HS. And how long to get there? Not going to lie, not a single QS in that park has me excited :confused3

...there's not a lot of QS along the Boardwalk that's exciting either. Maybe Boardwalk Bakery?

The Boardwalk Bakery has some nice options. There are other kiosks too, but check the times of operation when you are there.

There are other hotels along the boardwalk to choose from. The Yacht and Beach Club and the Swan and Dolphin are all within walking distance or boat ride from DHS. If you are on the dining plan, not all boardwalk kiosks or Swan/Dolphin may take the plan.

We like Hurricane Hanna's at the BC pool - they have nice options and you can have a picnic on the "beach".

ESPN, Beaches and Cream (reservations required) and Big River Grill are great choices too and in line with QS prices.

I hear you. The only QS I might try at HS is the Fairfax Fare. I don't like any of the choices at BW. Also, YC/BC don't have much that appeals to me either.

There are a couple of places at Swan and Dolphin I might check out.

We have the dining plan, so that is a big factor. I will have to check out hurricane hanna. :)

hmm, not much better there. If I could get away with it I just wouldn't eat a second meal that day, but my kids tend to think food is a pretty important part of their day :rotfl:

There are two sit-down places on Boardwalk that do not require a reservation - ESPN & Big River Grill.

For about the same cost as a typical Disney QS, you can have some better food and table service.

FWIW, QS around Epcots World Showcase is very good, Hollywood Studios - not so much.

As for how long to get from HS to the Boardwalk - it's about a 15 - 20 minute walk (I do it in around 12 minutes, but am a fast walker). There's also a boat, but that will take closer to 20 minutes, just for the boat ride. You'll also need to add in the wait for the boat at HS.

The 2 of us always split an appetizer and a fried chicken meal at prime time at DHS. we get onion rings, we each get 2 pieces of chicken and they evenlet us get double mashed potatos and no veggie. and they bring us each our own plate. and we split one huge milkshake

I'm not a fan of QS at HS or BW area, either. I would get either lunch or dinner at Sci Fi, and my other meal would likely be outside of HS/BW altogether -- maybe at some resort in another area. These days I do HS as a half-day park anyway, so it's easy to get breakfast or dinner in some other area.

Did not see that you were on DDP.

QS is not the focus of service outside the Parks.

Hurricane Hanna, Leaping Horse Libations & Boardwalk Bakery are just about it.

But if you can, Epcot simply offers better food. For instance, England is near the International Gateway entrance from Boardwalk into Epcot with fish'n'chips. And France is not much further in the other direction.

I'd not be giving up park time to seek out better QS at a resort. Certainly the choices in the BW/BC/YC area are not worth taking an hour walking time out of your day plus going through security there and back. The new HS choices seem much better than in previous years... abc commissary has salad, salmon, steak, burger, chicken and ribs... I could find about 4 things to eat there. Backlot Express has the more familiar nuggets/burgers/hot dogs/salads as well as chicken and waffles and a caprese sandwich that doesn't sound so bad... certainly none of it sounds bad enough that I'd waste precious park time for other mediocre choices.

also ribs anc chicken at fairfax faire. while I love the burger at hurrican hannah, there is almost no seating maybe 2 small tables people sit at whilewaiting for thier food. it is technically the "pool bar/grill for stormalong bay and you need a wristband to go into any seating areas there.. not fun trying to balance the hugeburge and fries on your lap on a benchalong the promenade.

We sit at the bar by HH and DW has the burger while I have the seared tuna appetizer. Both are on the bar menu and you can also order from the HH menu. This is not really QS, but the food quality is very good. That tuna is one of the hidden bargains of WDW.

Yeah, I am thinking we will just stay in the park and have a "boring" food day. We are pretty adventurous eaters, so HS is just a let down in that area compared to everyone else. :)

lol I get it totally, I think we only did TS in there last trip. but admittedly the new abc commissary menu sounds at least as good as (if not better than) anything at the resorts.

here are some dinner choices (slightly more boring at lunch) that sound decent

Chimichurri Steak
Sirloin Steak topped with Chimichurri Sauce and served with Fire-roasted Corn Medley and Steak Fries

Mediterranean Salad with Chicken
Mixed Greens, Tomatoes, Onions, Peppers, Kalamata Olives and Feta Cheese tossed in a Greek Vinaigrette and topped with Chicken. Served with Hummus and Pita Chips

Lemon Pepper Salmon
Seared Salmon served with Cous Cous and sautéed Green Beans

Chicken and Ribs Combo Platter
Barbecued Chicken and Ribs served with Steak Fries and Coleslaw

Southwest Burger
Premium Burger topped with Pepper Jack Cheese, Guacamole, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato and Cheddar Jalapeño Poppers. Served with Steak Fries

I'd eat any of those!

That Chimichurri steak sounds pretty interesting! My husband would love the southwest burger also. He is a big fan of unusual burger combos. I don't remember seeing that menu when I looked. Sounds like we found out QS. :thanks:

We are doing h&v breakfast (thank you toddlers), so we plan on doing snacks for lunch and QS for dinner, so this works out perfectly :)

I wouldn't recommend the trip over for the counter service at the BC or BW unless you want to see the resorts. Commissary isn't great but it's at least as good as anything I've had at HH. (or on the BW) If you have a park hopper and are leaving HS anyway, I'd recommend going to Epcot and the World Showcase. There are a lot of good options over there. But if your whole day is going to be at HS I don't think making a trip to the BW or BC is worth the hassle. JMO
