Boardwalk preferred vs. standard?

Besides the long walk - is there any benefit for paying the extra money?

Is the view different? Room smaller?

Etc?

The rooms are the same sizes but the views are different, the standard view rooms look out onto the entrance of the BW while preferred views have either a pool or the Boardwalk or the waterway to MGM. As far as length of the hallway walk it can be the exact same as a preferred view since one side of the hallway would be preferred and one would be standard. You could get a short walk or a long walk with any of the views. I think the long walk is exagerated. It seems longer because of the inside hallways. If you walk out of the entrance and down to the parking lot, it's the same distance as the hallways and that doesn't seem far.

We've only stayed standard in our 3 visits to BWV and have always enjoyed the view. Because the villas angle away from the road, you don't feel like you're sitting on top of it. Here's a picture of our room from our trip in March.

Our room was on the 1st floor on the right of the red section behind the tree. I was standing on the driveway.

It all comes down to how many points i want to use. 99 percent of the time i would prefer a standard view room.This visit we decided to splurge and get the boardwalk view room and this may change my whole outlook...the walks are the same to all rooms and i personally really enjoyed a view of the epcot fireworks from standar view room.

Standard view rooms are a very small percentage of the resort (around 20%) and because they are functionally no different except for a fine view of the BW entrance, very popular. Which means you need to book them early to be ensured of getting one.

I have had both and both are equally enjoyable. Either way you decide to use your points it will be a great room.
