A couple of years ago I started planning a trip to WDW, we had to put that trip off...til now! I did some research on where we wanted to stay, and we know for sure we want an Epcot resort. There are 4 of us, me, hubby and 2 grown kids.

I am looking at a concierge room at the Boardwalk Inn or the junior suite at the Yacht Club. We will not be going in the pool. I'm also considering the BWV 1 bedroom suite, although I dont know much about that whole deal.

Give me your opinions and reasons why you would choose one resort over the other.

Thanks!!

IMHO stay at the yacht club, We LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Ive stayed at the BW and love it too, but if your not a huge fan of walking long distances to get to your room, Id opt for the YC. I stayed at BW with my Gramma (then she was in her mid 50s & did I mention not the best knee:confused3 :rotfl: ) and we loved the atmosphere but dreaded the walk back to our room after a long day at the park, but im sure you could request something close to an elevator if it bothered you. ( When they say BoardWalk they really do me BOARD WALK!!! I just always found myself saying... ARE WE THERE YET?? as we passed each "resting point" as we affectionately called them, these little foyer looking areas every few stretch of rooms. with lounging chairs and sofas!! ) You'll like either one of those resorts though, they are both "top shelve" choices!!you cant go wrong no matter which you pick! have an awesome trip!!!!:thumbsup2

Well, I'd choose the Beach Club for an EPCOT area resort! It's the closest to EPCOT, has the lightest and brightest decor and the friendliest staff.

The Yacht Club is dark with low ceilings. Authentic? Perhaps but the dirty rugs put me off as do the stiff CMs that work there.

The Boardwalk Inn is my least favorite deluxe. There is the hike from the car park, then the marathon walk to the rooms, plus no internal restaurant... nope, don't care for it at all. Oh, right. They have the Stephen King of pools too!

So, if you must choose between BW and YC, go with YC, but as I said, I'd choose BC over the other two.

One bedroom DVC means that you will have accomodations that are the equivalent of a small apartment. A full kitchen, a complete laundry (in a closet) and a whirlpool tub (along with a separate shower). There is the master bedroom, and a small dining area. The couch in the "living room" area pulls out for a bed.

We really like the YC. It depends what you are looking for in a hotel. My Dh loves the theme of the YC and it seemed quieter than BC or BW.

Sounds like you all like the yacht club a little more than the other. I did look into the beach club resort, but we were looking for something quiet. From what I gather beach club has more little kids?? We don't use the pool or that big ole clown face would be giving me nightmares for years!

Wow, everyone is choosing YC over BWI. Hmmmm. We like BC the best, but YES it's because we have small children and it is busier than the other 2 Epcot resorts. I was going to recommend BWI, but the above posters have me second-guessing myself LOL. I always thought BWI would be nice to stay at again someday once our kids are older -- we stayed there when our girls were around the age 2 stage. We enjoyed having the boardwalk right outside and all the options of things to do -- restaurants, bakeries, ice cream/candy shops, shopping, entertainment (magicians, music, etc.), surrey bike rentals, food stands, dance clubs, ESPN Club, etc. When we stayed at YC, it was very quiet indeed, so I guess if you are looking for quiet and upscale, then YC is for you. If you're looking for adult-oriented resort with lots of people and activities, then BWI is for you.

Did all that make sense?!

BWVs and BCVs are nice and I know they have many fans, but I prefer the hotel side of the resorts ~ just personal preference.

I've stayed at all the Epcot resorts and definitely prefer YC :) In May we stayed in a deluxe concierge room at BWI for a week ~ it was a 'girls only' trip so we really wanted the extra space (and extra sofa-bed) that the deluxe room offered. The YC junior suite wasn't available for all the nights we needed which is why we did BWI. There are far fewer YC jr suites than there are deluxe BWI rooms so they are harder to come by. Loved the size of the room and having that extra sitting area. Concierge service was fine but not as wonderful as I was expecting based upon the raves I've read here on the boards. The club lounge is nice, very large.

A week after our BWI stay I made another short trip down and was back at the YC. Even though I didn't have cl this time I still just loved being back there! Sitting out on the balcony watching the Friendship boats with the boardwalk in the background :) Great way to start my morning off right!

YC or BC? I prefer the theming and the atmosphere at the YC. In my experience I've also found that the rooms and cleaner and "fresher" at the YC. But I know that's something that varies from room to room and stay to stay for everyone. Some call the YC 'stuffy' ~ I've never felt that way. The staff is very friendly - courteous & helpful.

You can't beat the Epcot area resorts for location. So, whichever one you choose, you'll love being there :cool1:

We always stay at the BC, but that is because we love the pool and the easy access to the International Gateway. If the pool were not an issue, I'd consider staying at the Boardwalk Villas to have the extra space and easy access to both the International Gateway and walkway to MGM. You really can't go wrong at any of these places.

All three of the resorts are beautiful. All three very different but each w/ a nautical theme. You don't say if your grown children would share a bed or not. That would make a differnence in what I would book. You also don't say if you are planning on eating some meals in room or not doing any cooking at all. I would tend to say that YC is the quietest and most formal of the 3 resorts, BC is the most casual and tends to have the most children, and BW is somewhere in between the other two. We have always stayed at BWV, because we like to prepare alot of our meals in our room. We have rented a 2-br DVC room on all three trips. We like not spending all our time at the parks, so we do like having a little more space to stretch out in our room. We like the 2-br because it gives us the additional bathroom and I (the uncle) get to have my own separate space from my sister and her family. When we want, we open up the door between the two sides and I share their kitchen and living room. We always get Boardwalk view room; I love sitting out on the balcony first thing in the morning and late at nite. It's one of my favorite things about the whole vacation. Since you said you are not going to use the pool, I guess that eliminates that factor. I would love to stay at YC just once so that I could use Stormalong Bay. If you think your kids would enjoy going out exploring on their own in the evening, then the BW area has lots to offer. If your kids are into sports, they might enjoy ESPN zone. If they are of legal drinking age, then there is Jellyrolls also at the BW. If you want very quiet, go for the YC. It is definitely the quietest of the 3. I would avoid the BC. It is very popular, definitely family friendly, and seems to have the highest percentage of young kids when I've been there. It may just seem that way because the Boardwalk is so much more spread out. You will love staying in the Epcot area. Very relaxing, and within a boat ride or walk to 2 parks.

Reviving this thread because I'm indecisive and really have to book something soon.

I've narrowed my choices in rooms to either the YC Junior Suite or the BWI Garden Suite, any thoughts on either of these rooms? Both are available and about the same rate.

Is the walk from BWI any closer to MGM and Epcot? From what I understand walking distance is very far from YC to MGM?

There are so many different resorts to choose from! Appreciate any advice you all might have. :goodvibes

It is closer to walk to MGM from BWI by about 5-10 minutes, depending on where your room is located.

It is closer to walk to Epcot from YC by about 5-10 minutes, again depending on where your room is located.

There is also a boat you could take to both parks.

In my opinion, what it comes down to is what you're looking for in the trip. The BWI will give you more action being so close to the boardwalk itself. The YC will give you a more quiet atmosphere. One way to look at it is that the resorts are only minutes away from eachother, so if you stay at the YC, you could easily walk over to the boardwalk for the entertainment.

Both resorts are very nice in their own way. Personally, we like the Yacht Club because of the location, the pool, the "dirty rugs," and the balconies. Bus transportation from the YC is rarely crowded, and the staff is always accommodating and friendly. The BWI is closer to the Boardwalk Bakery and the Flying Fish, and their staff is always very nice and accommodating. You can't go wrong with either resort, so please stop worrying yourself, pick one, and relax.
