Boardwalk mug question

The Boardwalk Bakery and I believe its called Seashore Sweets. Both are located out on the Boardwalk.

Oh and at the Scarey Clown pool also.

Also, am I correct in that there are no stations where you fill your own mug? Rather, you hand it to a CM to refill? How big of a pain is that? Those that have gotten mugs at Boardwalk, did you feel you used them enough to justify the cost?

We really use our mugs at AKL, but it was so easy to go to Mara. However, I'm really not sure how inconvenient the Boardwalk mugs will be.

Thanks (and to OP:sorry to hijack your thread)

I'm interested too in whether it is too much of a pain to get it refilled at those places. Thanks!

Unless you're going to the BW Bakery for something for breakfast it can be a hike to just refill mugs in the morning. (The pool bar isn't open in the morning.)

And unless you are carrying your mug with you to the parks, it's also a pain to get it refilled when you get back to the resort - you have to go back to your room (down those long hallways) then out to the BW. It is nice to fill up if you're walking back from Epcot and have your mug with you though. It also depends on what you're filling it with - in the afternoons I wanted orange Fanta which was only available at the bakery. Otherwise it probably would have been easier to fill up at the pool bar.

And it isn't bad having the CM fill the mug for you - actually at the bakery instead of filling it they give you a cup of soda that you're supposed to fill your mug with, but I wouldn't bother and just drank straight from the cup and threw the cup out (then I didn't need to clean my mug).

We did get $ worth, but next time we'll be getting groceries and won't need the mugs. I definitely used my All-Star Sports mug more when we stayed there b/c it was so much more convenient. Plus they are now selling a generic mug at most of the resorts (no longer resort specific) so I'm not interested in getting another mug.

I am also not happy about the generic mug. I really like my resort specific mugs. They are souvenirs of our stay. Mathgeek, you confirmed pretty much everything I was thinking about the mugs at Boardwalk. We are driving, so I'll be bringing snacks, water, breakfast and some lunch items with us. I'll just add some cases of canned drinks to the list. It will save money and not be such a hassle.

I really wish Disney would do something about a food court type thing at the Boardwalk. I know the bakery and the sweet shop, pool bar are supposed to serve the same purpose, but in my opinion a food court is needed.

We bought just one mug at BWV about 3 years ago...we used it about 3 times, and that was it. It really is a pain to lug around. I will bring it back with me, but I will have my own soda, so I'll fill it in our room and then perhaps allow my dd to get refills at Leaping Horse Libations when at the pool.

It sure would be nice if they had an area similar to the Marketplace at BCVs. That's actually kinda nice. It's the one thing I don't care for at BWV..no quick grab and go spot.

This was about the only thing we found we didn't like at the BWV. It was very inconvenient to get the mugs filled unless you wanted to trek all the way back to your room to drop off the mug before going out somewhere.

I also didn't like the fact that in the evenings we were at the pool and could not get our refills at the pool any more once the Bar had closed (which was around 6pm I think). I would not have felt comfortable going out to the Boardwalk proper in my swimming stuff, even with a cover up, to get a refill. (If you are happy to do this that's great! I'm just saying I didn't like to). In the end we just bought bottles of soda and took them down to the pool in our mugs which really defeated the "free" drink refills.

I agree with you 100% about that. I think the Boardwalk looks like a very nice and intresting Resort to stay at, however their lack of a real food court is the main reason we don't stay there. If they had one like Captin Cooks at the Polynesian, or Gasparilla Grill & Games at the Grand Floridian we might consider staying there one day.

The Boardwalk was not my first choice, believe me. However, we are celebrating my younger daughter's 13th birthday, and BWI is her "dream" resort. Couple that with the fact that there was a nice AP rate at the Boardwalk, and the resort choice was pretty simple. I would much rather be at AKL, but I'm sure we will enjoy the Boardwalk. I'll just add extra drinks to my shopping list now. Thanks everyone for the info.
