Hi all:
We are considering a large family vacation in November and we are thinking about BWI. Can anyone who has stayed there give us a quick overview of the positives and negatives? We are especially concerned about:

1. Noise - The resort seems to be right above the boardwalk. Is there a noise issue from the clubs, restaurants, and general foot traffic on the boardwalk? I've stayed in too many hotels while on business with thumping beats from the bar or from some event in a banquet room!

2. Dining - It looks like the hotel itself doesn't have any restaurants (not even a snack bar). Is this correct? How inconvenient is getting a meal - most importantly breakfast. Even more importantly, a first cup of coffee before breakfast!

Thanks!

Hi!

We stayed at the Boardwalk two years ago and absolutely loved it! We did not hear any noise in our room, and even when you first enter into the Boardwalk hotel from the actual Boardwalk area, you no longer hear the noises from outside. Our room was not overlooking the Boardwalk though, so I might imagine that if it was and the balcony was open, you would hear something. the room was very spacious, had two queen beds and a full size daybed. We thought it was so pretty there.

There isn't a restaurant within the hotel, but there are many along the Boardwalk to choose from. The boys in my group loved ESPN. There was the Bellevue Lounge inside, which offered drinks, appetizers, and morning coffees in a relaxed atmosphere. They play old time radio shows in there to listen to! Being coffee drinkers, we requested a coffee maker for our room, so we had coffee every morning. Also, room service is available if you don't want to go out.

The pool area is a lot of fun with the keister coaster water slide. There was a pool bar called Leaping Libations (I think), that looks like a carousel, that served sandwiches/burgers/drinks poolside.

We are going to the WL this summer, but dreaming of adding a few days on at the Boardwalk. It was our favorite resort so far. You will have a great time!

The Boardwalk area does have alot of foot traffic and activity, and while I haven't stayed overlooking the boardwalk, I have seen a few posters from time to time complain about noise from their room. This only happens if you have booked a room overlooking the boardwalk (and doesn't necessarily mean you will have a problem, either). The BWI is a pretty large resort with many other rooms that do not overlook the BW. Lots of rooms overlook a quiet pool that is very quiet. You can request a room that is in a quiet location when you book.

As far as restaurants go, there is a bar within the actual resort (it is VERY quiet - no music thumping there AT ALL), and there are several resstaurants on the boardwalk itself. It is all compact, and other than being physically located OUTSIDE the hotel, the restaurants really are a part of the resort, or at least it feels that way. There is Spoodles (great Italian food), ESPN Club (burgers and such), Flying Fish Cafe, and a brewery (I can't think of the name - sorry--offers sandwiches and burgers, etc.). There are a few counter service type places selling pizza and such, and a hotdog type stand. There is also a bakery that sells wonderful sweet rolls and such in the morning. I'm sure coffee is available there, as well as a number of other places on the boardwalk, and within the hotel bar.

The only place that I could think of that has music thumping would be at the duelling piano lounge and the Atlantic Dance Club and they are located on the Villa side of the resort and you would be not be located near them.

I hope this info helps.

No noise factor as far as I can see. we were right over spoodles and could see the boardwalk below us, all the people walking and the crowds, no noise at all. I am going back in November and requested the same spot, I loved it. I look at it you are so tired after the parks you just go out like a light.

As far as getting a meal, it isn't bad at all. you have all the resturants right at your finger tips, you will love BWI, I know I do and plus walking to Epcot really spoils you and a small boat ride to MGM, go for it, you can't go wrong with BWI :D

We are DVC owners with Boardwalk as our "home" resort. We have stayed with Boardwalk view on the villa side a half dozen times (twice as low as the 2nd floor, so we right on top of it). Once the door to the balcony is closed, we never heard a thing - and DH is a VERY light sleeper. Go for it! If you like to people watch you will love it.

By the way, the Food & Wine Fest this year has been lengthened, so it begins first part of October. You will be able to walk right into the Fest, which is great. The down side of that is that the Boardwalk area resorts will fill up fast and possibly sell out, so make those reservations soon!
