I don't see much information or activity for the Boardwalk Hotel. We have reservations to stay there in July? Does anyone have any input about this hotel? Thanks for your response!

You should post your questions in the DVC forum...Boardwalk Villas members can probably help you.

Welcome-
feel free to check out the DVC board if you like as I'm sure the DVC members there do know lots about BWV. Since this is the resorts board, I'm sure there are lots of people who can help you out here too! :)

I'm not sure if you are referring to the BWI (Boardwalk Inn) or the BWV (Boardwalk Villas). If you are looking for more info on the BWI here are some great threads:

I have ressies to stay there for my first time in January 2004 so I don't have any personal info but love the looks of the resort and the proximity to Epcot and MGM. Also if you do a search on the boards (if it is working) for Boardwalk Inn you'll find lots of threads. HTH!

We stayed there last December and loved it! The closeness to Epcot and MGM was a big plus for us. The boardwalk itself was also great! Lots of shopping and entertainment options. We didn't really get to see a lot of the "street entertainers" because it rained almost every day we were there. Even so, we LOVED it anyway.

We're going back to WDW in Sept., and I would have stayed there again; but I'm trying to stay in as many different places as possible--so we're staying at BCV this time!

Hi  ,

We did have reservations for a stay at BWInn next March, but after a poll and thread on the DIS they persuaded us to choose The Beach Club instead.

However, from what I have heard the location and rooms are nice aty BWI, but the pool at The Yacht/Beach Club adds a massive bonus.

Richard. :)

We are trying the BWI for the 1st time in December...I can't wait. It doesn't seem to get as much press as the other Epcot area hotel. I guess that could be good or bad depending how you look at it. From what I've read I sure will not be disappointed.

Enjoy.

goofytime - we've stayed at the Boardwalk Villas the past three years and absolutely love it. The location is wonderful with lots of activities/excitement on the boardwalk right outside of the hotel. The pool is great - the 200 ft long slide is called the Kiester Coaster and my kids (DD 8, DS 6) love it. On our pool days, we tend to order takeout from one of the Boardwalk restaurants (ESPNZone, Big River Grille, Spoodles Pizza, etc.) and eat on the pool deck for a relaxing evening. There is also a community center w/video games and daily planned activities. Two of the past three years we've had a balcony overlooking the Boardwalk and EPCOT and have enjoyed the fireworks from our room. It's location provides a short walk to EPCOT (10 min) and MGM (15 min). Hope this helps. BTW, if you can get to Jelly Rolls one night, I highly recommend it. (adults only)

Thanks for all your posts. We are going to Boardwalk Inn in July with my husband's company. We will be staying there for four nights and then probably switching hotels for another two nights. It will be me, dh, and ds (age 9). We have stayed at WL, BC and PO. We love the theming at WL and the pool at BC. So who knows where we will hop to the other two nights.

We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn in January. It was so much fun! We had a standard room and had a wonderful view of World Showcase and watched Illuminations every night from our balcony. We didn't try the pool, it was a little chilly when we were there, but it looks like a lot of fun. The bakery on the boardwalk has some great pastries and Big River Grill was good for dinner. We loved being able to walk to Epcot and MGM. I could go on and on. We have already booked another trip there in October. Have fun!

Boardwalk is Disney's best kept secret if you ask me ;) I love it there. The ambiance is unbelieveable and the resort is beautiful. Location is perfect, rooms are gorgeous. No complaints here! If you can get a BW view its breathtaking!

A great resort!!

Hi -
We have been lucky enough to have stayed at the BWI twice over the last 5 years, and it is my favorite place to stay without question. In addition to be close enough to EPCOT and MGM to walk (or short boat ride), the restaurant choices are fantastic. We also enjoyed the Bellevue Lounge on the lobby level- for continental breakfast in the morning and stronger libations at night. We have also been lucky enough to have a room on the fifth floor which overlooks the boardwalk and lake. These rooms would be directly over the Lounge.
We will also be at WDW in July (4th-11th), along with "family" from Norway, but staying at the Swan this trip. Have a very magical trip - we know you will love the BWI. As Niks81 mentioned it might be WDW's best kept secret.

finnie48 - we too are staying at the Swan for our May trip this year. Having done the Boardwalk three years in a row, we are hoping the Swan will be as good as the posts on this board attest. We will be with my brother in-law and family, so the Swan became the better choice.

Have a great trip in July!

The BWI is the smallest hotel on property, and its intimate charm is what makes it one of my favorite places to stay. It is the most romantic hotel, IMHO, with the best night-life and dining options. I prefer a garden view room over the boardwalk view since the garden view gives you a peak into the WS by France. It is a great resort!

We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn three years in a row. It's a really nice place and the location is wonderful! The only complaint I have was the last trip there we were in a room which had a connecting door. The people in the room next to us had a baby that woke us up every morning (early !!!) and we could even hear them talking whenever they were in their room. I loved having a room facing the boardwalk though, we could sit out there and watch all the activity. :D

We rented points and stayed at the BWV last Nov. We loved it so much that we bought a resale DVC contract w/BWV as our "home" resort when we got back home after our trip :) We've only stayed at the BWV that one time, but it was just great. I can hardly wait to stay there again! I really liked the pool area, and the decor of the hotel is neat. Our room was on the top floor, overlooking the pool. I'm pretty sure that this was a preferred-view room, because the CM checking us in said "you've been upgraded! I've only seen this happen twice since I've been working here!" We were booked for a standard studio, so this view must have been an upgraded view. We really appreciated that :) Overall, we loved staying at the BWV!! Also, the restaurants on the Boardwalk are great. I really love Spoodles and Flying Fish!

I think the reason the Boardwalk Inn gets little attention in the boards is because it's smaller that the other on-site hotels. I'm sure someone has the precise number, but I think the BWI only has about 350 rooms, about 1/10 the size of the Carribean beach. Even including the Villas, it's still smaller than the other resorts.

Moving on to personal opinion (as opposed to facts), the Boardwalk Inn is my absolute favorite resort at WDW. I've also stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian, Yacht Club, and Carribean Bearch, but I enjoy the BWI above all of these resorts.

The rooms are big and airy. If you have a view of Crescent Lake, you can sit on your deck, relax, and watch the world go by. If you have a garden view room, you can do the same thing looking at a tranquil scene. There are many high quality dining choices within walking distance. EPCOT and the Studios are very close (a 5 minute walk to the international gateway, and 15 minute walk to the Studios, or you can take the boat). Lastly, on every trip I've made to the BWI, I've been treated very well, and any problems have been quickly and pleasantly corrected.

When I'm at WDW, I stay at the Boardwalk. I've done it alone and loved it, and I've done it with my lovely spouse and darling teenaged daughter and loved that too.

Enjoy your trip in July. I'm envious.

Is it noisy at Boardwalk? We go there for meals and always wondered if you can hear the music, crowds, etc from the rooms. We would consider staying there if it is quiet.

Thanks!!

I had a boardwalk view and I couldn't hear noise. The only noise I heard was the boat horn, but that was it. I thoroughly enjoyed that view ;)

My experience is the same as niks81. Especially after Illuminations ends, the Boardwalk itself is pretty noisy and very active. If you have the sliding glass door open, you can hear all of it.

Closing the glass door turns almost all of this noise off. In my last 3 trips to the Boardwalk Inn I've had lake views, above the bakery, Spoodles, and down toward the ESPN Club. In all cases I had no trouble with the noise or sleeping. You do hear the boat horn, which I do think is pretty cool.

One warning, do not take a room with a lake view that is exactly adjacent to the ESPN Club. I had one of those rooms in January, I think it was room 3213. This is the last room above the arcade, right next to the bar. The noise of the bar came up through the ventilation system, so when I got back to my room after my day, I could hear the bar at full volume. I looked at the schedule and saw the bar was open only until 1 am, so I called the front desk and was moved immediately to a room with the same view, just a few doors down from ESPN. I do like spending some time at the club, just not when I'm trying to sleep.
