For our 2022 trip (as long as the covid situation is better), we are considering booking a Boardwalk grand villa. Will depend on 7 month availability, which is obviously hit or miss.

I know that there are 2 floor plans. We have stayed in 1 floor and 2 floor grand villas at other resorts and like both layouts. My only concern is that I cannot find updated room tours or photos of the Boardwalk 2 story grand villa floor plan to actually see what it is like. Has anyone seen any lately?

There is an updated video on YouTube of room 4037 from 9 months ago.
I just found it yesterday in a search for similar - it's been 17+ years since we were in a Grand Villa at BW and wanted to see how it has changed.

This room tour is from several years ago: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVOMe2KWJKQ before the last refurb, Videos of the 2-stories are rare.

When we get a GV at BWV we always request the single-story. The 2-story GVs are OK but have some differences we do not like. The combined living room, dining room, and kitchen area is smaller than the single-story. Unlike the large laundry room near the master bedroom in the single story, the 2-story has no laundry room. Instead the washer/dryer are stacked in a small closet upstairs at the end of the hall right next to the doorway to second upstairs bedroom, meaning those who usually do laundry have to climb stairs to accomplish it, and the machines are loud and thus cannot be used at night when young ones are sleeping in that bedroom.

I'd plan on a different GV. Book one at your home resort at 11 months out. There are only seven at BWV.

Thank you so much for this info! Based in your description and this video the 2 story there would definitely not be a good fit for us.

You’re right. BWV is probably best for our visits without the extended fam. We have stayed in GVs at SSR (home) many times, Kidani, VGF and BLT. We love SSR so we’ll either do that or try for BLT/VGF again if our group wants to be close to MK. Or try Riviera if it’s available.

We’re going to have lots of points to burn (but so will so many other people.) I know 7 month availability could be dicey as the covid situation improves. We love our home at SSR but with 4 kids under 7 on this next visit, being in close proximity to a park would be nice if possible. If not, we adore SSR!

At least the renovation at SSR should be completed by then and you'd get a renovated villa with the newer murphy bed instead of the sleeper sofa.

Resurrecting this thread. Any recommendation on a room request for BW GV? I’ve seen the view on Touring Plans, just wondering if anyone else has some insights.

As noted above, our request is usually for a single story GV. See this map https://www.disboards.com/media/bwv-boardwalk-view.62896/ The GVs are all in the same area of the boardwalk. All have good views so other than requesting single story or two story, you do not really need to request anything else. Possibly you could request high floor but then for the two-story GVs that is unnecessary, and the lowest single-story is third floor from which view is very good.

We were always given the 2 story GV at BWV but most likely because they were short stays. I haven't tried for one again for years. I did not like the 2 story because we had older people with us.

The only other request for a BWV GV I can think of is to be farther down the hall - “far from elevators” ? Not sure how to ask - so that the evening performers don’t position themselves beneath your balconies. The singing group we heard was very talented, but when someone is trying to sleep right above them, it’s not a good situation.

BTW, that link doesn’t show anything when I click on it. Might be too old of a post.

I'll echo this sentiment and add that the GV which is located on the 3rd floor over the Screen Door is a HA room. Both the master bedroom and one of the other bathrooms are HA and the kitchen is laid out to allow wheelchair access to all appliances, the sink and counters.

I would take any of the BWV GV 1 floor before staying in the 2 floor again.
