Hello everyone, been a fan of the site and the podcast for a good while, but wanted to join and post on the boards for a bit more interaction about our experiences. My wife and I just returned from a long labor day stay at the yacht club, and we decided to venture over to the boardwalk to check on the nightlife. Since I have heard Pete and the others frequently say how dead the dance hall is, I wanted to lend some humor to the equation. I was wondering if anyone else finds it humorous or ironic that when peeking in, we noticed about 4 people tops dancing to Whitney Houstons "I want to Dance with somebody"? I found it funny enough to want to post about it to see if anyone else had thoughts on the dance hall.

Yes, that is ironic!

When I've looked in, it's been even emptier, with no customers at all. I'm puzzled how this place stays in business, but it seems they may sometimes rent it out for private events such as wedding receptions.

I became a Disney-phile in my mid twenties and was so excited to check out the Dance Hall. I thought it would be a good scene, like the old pleasure island clubs I had seen advertised on tv but was never old enough to get into before they shuttered. Over the past 8 years or so, I've poked my head into the Dance Hall on occasion just to relive some old times and I've always had a good time. You basically have a huge dance floor just for you and your friends so as long as you aren't too shy, it's a good time. The music is a decent mix of 80s/90s dance tunes with some newer pop thrown in. And who doesn't love a giant music video wall? My main gripe with this place is the super overpriced drinks.

I would love to see this place turn into a dinner show destination personally, like Hoop Dee Doo. Imagine an old supper club type venue with tuxedo clad Mickey and Minnie doing a floor show or some talented cast members serenading us with renditions of Disney songs? I'd pay for that.

I would think they could maybe get with the times and get some up and coming DJ in there or something to get some hype going. I see plenty 20's to 30's around DIS who you think would go for this if it got some hype and vibe to it. Personally I am early 50's and big hardcore alt rock fan thin Octane Sirius radio but i know that would never go over. However would think some kind of electronic/beat/global music would attract people.
