Can you tell me all about it?

We haven't been in it before but now we have a DS it might be of interest to use :)

Thanks:goodvibes

Hi Kaylee! It's been awhile...would love to see some pics of your DS!!

The last time we used the BW Community Hall was when we did the Illuminations Cruise with you so it's been a few years. When we went there, the kids had a blast. As I recall there were different games, video, board, etc. plus a place for arts and crafts. I think there was a place to rent bikes there, but don't quote me on that. There were also movies to sign out or rent, I'm not sure because we really didn't look into that. It was very quiet when we were there--maybe only two or three people. Hopefully this will help some and maybe others will respond as well.

When is your trip??

There is quite a bit offered at the Boardwalk Community Hall and I suggest you check it out.

First of all, there is a list of activities each day. Every day there are 4 activities- 2 that you must pay for and 2 which are free. There are discounts for DVC members. The activity times are 12:30, 2, 4, 6:30.

Activities done at the hall:
- design a backpack (fee)
- design a t-shirt (fee)
- design a coaster- for drinks (fee)
- decorate a beach ball (fee)
- paint a piggy bank (fee)
- paint a treasure chest (fee)
- design an umbreall (fee)
- decorate a doorhanger (free)
- decorate a memory book (free)
- make a picture frame (free)
- pin trading (free)
- boardwalk scavenger hunt (free)
- design your own shoelaces (free)
- tissue paper characters (free)
- goofy bingo- with a prize for all! (free)
- family board game night (free)
- family craft nigth (free)
- paint a wooden car (free)

I heard that ceramics will be starting soon... if they have not already started.

They will usually let you do any activity that has a fee associated to it whenever you want- within reason. The free activities have to be done at their specific time. You can pick up schedules at the community hall and they list the activities each day on a board outside the door. There are free games, including game cube, foosball, air hockey, and ping pong. Disney movies or the Disney Channel play all day long. You can just go in and color a picture too. This is also where you do movie, lifejacket, bike, tennis racket, board game, and noodle rentals. Please note that all of these, with the exception of noodles, require a room card. Movie rentals are free for DVC members and are $5 per movie for non-members. They are due by 10pm the next night. Life jackets are due back by your check-out date.

It is open from 9am-10pm.

Any other questions, feel free to ask. :D

Also just to add to some of the great informative posts, BW also offers free crafts that you can just ask for and do at any time. We did not know this until our past trip over Thanksgiving. We came to do a paid craft but once seeing what was involved decided it was too hard for our younger kids. The cm then offered us a selection of free crafts to pick from and she told me they always have them available and just ask at the desk! They were easier just arrange and glue type crafts that were perfect for the younger set. :)

We love BW community hall and go there at least once during the trip for a break to play games, color, crafts or do an advertised activity.

Feigned: Great info!! :thumbsup2

Not as of last week, I just checked the brochure we brought home.

Community Hall is a great place for the kids to get out of the sun and hang for a while. DS loved "shopping" for movies to watch during downtime.

I really wish BCV had something similar. Although given the higher number of kids over there, it would probably be crowded much of the time.

This is something that they did especially for Thanksgiving. They usually have some sort of free crafts for each holiday. On some holidays, such as Halloween and Christmas, they put out schedules of when activities are going to be run and you can stop by according to that (though they will let you do the activities on your own at any time that day).

On Halloween, the Community Hall had a day long party with crafts, games, prizes, and some food, including decorate-your-own cookies from the Boardwalk Bakery. It was a lot of fun!

Hmm... the cm made it sound like they always had these little bagged crafts ready to pick from. But then again its almost always close to a holiday in the fall!!! :)

No, unfortunately the free bagged crafts they have for the holidays are just for the days around whichever holiday it is. Those are the ones you can do at any time throughout the day as they are a special holiday treat for guests. I know there were a bunch of cute ones at Thanksgiving that were pretty simple to make.

Otherwise, the free crafts are just the ones listed on the schedule (see my list). Those must be done at the time specified for various reasons. princess:

Thanks for the exhaustive list - this is cool. We'll be staying there is Oct and it's always good to know this kind of thing.

Guess its a good thing we are going for 10 days around T-day again in '08! We seem to never be around for most of the rest of the craft times! Thanks for your info.

Hi Chandra  Long time no see ;) It was nearly 3 years ago our Illuminations cruise :) I hope all your family are well. Our trip this year is 28th Oct/16th Nov :) We are so excited!

Feigned - Thank you, Thank you :worship: Just what I was looking for :)

stopher1 - We are going at the end of October - maybe see you there.

Like I said, they will let you do paid for crafts whenever you want- so even if you are not there for their scheduled time, they do try to accomodate guests so that they can do them at other times. I personally recommend the treasure box and beach ball as crafts that are relatively cheap ($4 and $1 for DVC members), cute, and easy/fun to do!

Have a great trip!

Just thought I would update and let everyone know that ceramics started yesterday at the Boardwalk Community Hall!
