We are staying at boardwalk in September.

Can we bring our own bicycles and ride, or are we required to rent theirs? We have Trek Hybrids.

While they may restrict regular bicycles on the boardwalk and in high-traffic areas, they don't appear to have any means (nor probably the inclination) to otherwise regulate folks bringing their own bicycles. If you're riding Trek bicycles, then the small loop around Crescent Lake (which is the most likely to be restricted) won't be of much interest. Actually, the best place to ride at WDW is Ft. Wilderness.

Thanks.....

Just to clarify, the bikes we have are the hybrids....we don't really do any off-roading...usually ride on road....once in a while on a flat dirt path, but never on rocky terrain. We are just looking for riding around the area weather it be on street, sidewalk or boardwalk.

We have bikes similiar to this (although an older model)

Good question. Depending on how far and how much you like to ride and whether you're driving or flying. The airlines charge about $100 to tranport the bikes and that's on top of the cost of a good bike box. If you just want to ride the trails you can probably get 5-7 miles out of the trails around the BWI/BC/YC. I'm not sure of the roads around between resorts and parks-might be a little ify if you're not used to riding in traffic . You can get trail maps online-and I think you can rent bikes at the bike barn at BWI. But I know what you mean about having your own. I ride a Trek hybrid that I've tweaked to be more road bike in preparation for a road bike and I have to have a performance saddle and most rental bikes are comfort saddles-hence the bike box and extra fee flying. Good luck and happy riding. :sunny:

How much use do you think you'll get out of the bikes? Is it worth the trouble of bringing them down. Where would you keep them when not in use? There is a unlimited family plan for bike and boat rentals. You may want to ask about that before you go.

Good luck.

I use my bike everywhere, commute to work, ride off road, and I would not bother to bring a bike to DW. Not many places to ride. We stayed at WL once and walked the trails, but you would be done in a half hour! And there are too many people walking at BW to make it fun. Now if they let you ride to the parks I would think about it.

Bikes and runners are not really allowed on any of the roadways at WDW, so you won't have many places to ride.

Thanks for the responses. We are driving down and have a Thule bike rack for my truck, so the transport of them isn't an issue.

I know when we stayed at BCV, we went over to BW and rented a Surrey Bike for an hour. My wife would definitely enjoy a ride up the boardwalk and around the BCV and Dolphin/Swan area either early in the morning or during our relaxation time.

It would probably be too much hassle to bring ours even with driving because we would have to keep locking them onto the truck or at a bike rack somewhere, so I was thinking of either going for the Family plan or Captains plan to get bikes and boat rentals. I will have to look into the rentals more when we are there.

We just came back from the BWI, and used their bikes-it was a lot of fun! We did not see anyone with their own bikes, but I don't think they would stop you from using your own.
