We are staying at ASMo and would like to try Beaches and Cream and visit the Boardwalk. Are these two near each other? Also would we need to take the car, if so where would we park it?; or can we get there using the Disney buses?

Can anyone advise me? Thanks in advance.

Sara. :thumbsup2

You can get to the Boardwalk by either car or the Disney transport system. Car would be much quicker, but you can take a Disney bus from ASMo to any of the theme parks or Disney Downtown and change to a Boardwalk or Yatch and Beach Club bus.

If you have a PS at Beaches and Cream and are going by car I would head straight for the Yatch and Beach Club. If not, head for the Boardwalk you will be stopped at the gate by a security guard, tell him you are wanting to dine at the Boardwalk. He will direct you to the car park.

Beaches and cream is just a short stroll around the lagoon from the Boardwalk.

We own DVC Boardwalk :thumbsup2

If you want to visit, I prefer walking around the board walk in the evening as they have street entertainers ( a few) and the lights make it look so pretty.

Beaches and cream is only a short walk away, and have super deserts :goodvibes

You can walk there from either MGM or Epcot. We always do this, it's a lovely place to walk around :sunny:

If you are staying at the Boardwalk you can get a motor launch to EPCOT and MGM, so I presume you can catch the boat back too.
I am not 100% if you have to be staying at the BWV to do this or not, we are staying there for the 1st time in August.

You don't have to be staying at the resorts to use the Friendship boats. They run from the International Gateway in Epcot - Yacht and Beach Club - BoardWalk - Swan and Dolphin - MGM (and vice versa). It takes a while to do the whole trip and it's actually quicker to walk. The most worthwhile trip is between the resorts and MGM as that's a good 15 minute walk. The walk between Epcot and the resorts is much shorter.

Thanks Deb - I think we will walk to EPCOT, not sure about MGM may walk or drive there.

Johnny, I wouldn't recommend driving to MGM if you're staying at the BoardWalk - really no need. It's quite nice to walk once, if you've got the time. Other than that, I would get the Friendship boat. If you embark/disembark at the Swan and Dolphin, you will most likely beat the boat to the BoardWalk, albeit there won't be much in it.

also if youre feet are hurting from all that theme park walking you can catch the boat accross the lake at the boardwalk...

Both are really worth a visit.

We often valet park at the boardwalk and have a look around. There is the candy shop there which does great ice cream too!
Beaches and cream is fun though.. you could also park or valet at the Y&B club too.

You are probably right Deb, and we will walk - we are staying there for 4 nights as we were thinking of buying into DVC having never stayed onsite before, then the remainder of our 3 weeks we are in a villa.

It's just we know our son, I think if we take Joshua on the boat and it stops at a few places he may get a bit upset when we don't get off - just one of the things we have to take into account with his Autism (he cannot talk I am afraid).
Just want to avoid any possible chance of upsetting him.

We have looked around the Boardwalk before and we are aware that EPCOT is a very short walk but that MGM is a bit further.
Having a disabled badge means we can literally park right outside the gates at certain parks, MGM being one of them - but I do agree with what you are saying :thumbsup2

Beaches and Cream is quite small and inside tables are on a first come first served basis, so you may have to wait quite a while if it's busy. There is a take-out section and tables outside if you prefer.

If I remember correctly the boat from the BW to MGM makes 2 stops, first straight across the lagoon at Y&B and then at the Swan and Dolphin before continuing on to MGM. The reverse journey is the same Swan & Dolphin, then Y&B and then BW.

We always take the boat its a great way to arrive at MGM, I would suggest you walk over to the Swan and Dolphin and catch the boat from there that way there would be no stops involved that would upset Joshua.

As someone as aleady suggested we often get off at the Swan and Dolphin and walk back to the BW as you can beat the boat.

Hi, can you tell me where you catch the boat at MGM?? Thanks.

We love beaches & cream it has a cute 50's theme with a juke box and and good game right next to it if you need to wait for a table. My kids like sitting at the counter. They make a great hot roast beef and provalone cheese open face sandwich and excellent sundaes. Enjoy!

Come out of the park turnstiles and head left (rather than right towards the tram for the parking lot). You can't miss it.

Thanks for your help. Am really looking forward to going to both places. May attempt the boat too, just for fun.

Sara. :)
