Is it worth it to make our way over to hang out around the Boardwalk after dinner one night, or just skip it? You can see Illuminations from there? All ages in our party. How would we get there from MK area esorts?

The Boardwalk is fun at night. There will be jugglers and magicians, sometimes there is a movie on the village green and carnival games (bring cash, they don't accepts MB's or cc's). If you like ice cream, I would recommend going to Ample Hills for some dessert. You can see some of the Illuminations fireworks from the bridge between BWI and EP, but not the entire show. Using Disney transport, your best bet is bus to DHS and walking or taking the boat to BWI. It would be faster to uber/lyft/Minnie Van. IMHO, it's worth a visit if you are staying at an EP resort or visiting EP or DHS for the day and want to check it out one evening. I don't know if I would make a special trip over from a MK resort. I don't know where you are staying, but when we are at an MK resort, we sometimes like to visit Ft. W for the evening - go to the stables, Chip and Dale sing-a-long, play on the playground, etc.

To me it would depend on where you are having dinner. If having dinner at an Epcot resort or in Epcot and you have some time for a leisurely stroll.... sure, go for it. The Boardwalk has a fun vibe, a few entertainers, you can rent surrey bikes, games, etc.

But if I'm at a MK resort I'm probably not going to go all the way over there just for the Boardwalk alone if I didn't otherwise have a reason to be in the area. There's just not enough there to make it a major draw for our family.

To get to the Boardwalk from the MK resorts, your options are:

1) Go to MK and take the bus to BWI

2) Go to Epcot and walk "through" the park and "out" through the International Gateway and walk to BWI. This is a easily doable, but is a long walk if distance is a concern.

3) Bus to HS and walk (or boat) to BWI.

4) Uber/Lyft/Minnie Van/Taxi from your resort to BWI (probably the easiest/quickest of the above options)

Have fun!

We enjoy the boardwalk if we're walking between HS and Epcot, but imo it's not worth going out of your way for.

If I was going out of my way I'd rather go to Disney Springs

Totally agree. Disney has a done a much better job over at DS, for whatever reason. That said, we had dinner at the Flying Fish after a drink at AbracadaBar a few weeks ago, and thought these were both fantastic. I would do these all over again.

I will agree with others who have said it isn't worth making a special trip for given the hassle it can be to get there and back to your MK resort. I would spend time there only if I were staying at an EP resort.

The Boardwalk is nice, but IMO it's not nicer than actually being in Epcot. You definitely can't see any of Illuminations, except at best the very tops of some of the fireworks. If it's an evening in Epcot vs an evening at the boardwalk, I'd prefer to stay in Epcot
