Thinking of a trip for March 2023. Will invite my brother to go with us, so will be myself, DH, DD7, and my 25 year old brother.

Have home resort priority at BWV and VGF. Was originally thinking of two studios at VGF (maybe resort studios and request connecting, but not sure, want to give my brother a studio so he can have some privacy if he needs to get away from us lol) but am tempted to book Boardwalk 2 bedroom instead. Its actually cheaper points-wise for the 2 bedroom (both would be standard view) and Boardwalk is lock offs only, so he still gets a studio space. I think he'd enjoy Epcot area more than MK area, but he hasn't been to Disneyworld since he was a little kid. He's incredibly laidback so he's basically given me carte blanche to plan this whole thing, which works for me.

Appreciate any advice / feedback / experiences / votes! :)

Edited to add - its okay if we don't get connecting studios at VGF, being in the same resort is the goal.

I would go with 2 studios, I have seen too many posts where the guest cancels at the last minute. If that happens you can drop 1 studio and save the points.

I agree with the 2br BWV, because you can't be certain you'll get connectings at VGF2 aka the resort studios.

For one thing, there aren't very many there, and you probably know that such require a sprinkling of pixie dust. :tinker:

I am OK if its not a connecting studio at Big Pine Key, figure it'll be enough for us to be in the same building :)

Have you checked availability for a standard view 2BR in March? It would be my first choice but you might end up at VGF simply by default.

I have, things (currently) look pretty good from March 18th onwards. School vacation is from March 10 - March 26 so we are flexible in that time period. But I am nervous, and I do plan to book soon! The BWV SV studios are disappearing fast.

I would go with the 2 bedroom BWV over the studios at VGF. King bed, more room and within walking distance to both Epcot and HS.
I do enjoy the idea of a king sized bed, plus I'd have the amenities of a one bedroom in case we wanted to pack light and save luggage space for souvenirs! The idea has merit... (in my best Jafar voice).

This is true. I like to think my brother wouldn't do that, especially with an all expenses paid trip, but I am sure 100% of the others that this has happened to didn't think it would happen to them either.

The worst case scenario I suppose would be that the 3 of us stay in a two bedroom, and acquire a taste for it, and suddenly I need to buy more points. Oh dear. DH will not be happy.

Addon-itis daydreams aside, you do raise a great point. I have a March UY so if he does back out for some reason I have the rest of the UY to utilize the points. Hmm...

I was in a similar position recently and went with a two bedroom for the extra amenities (laundry, kitchen) and communal living room space. When we travel with extended family, it’s fun to hang out in the living room before retreating to our separate sleeping spaces.

I'd like to stay in one of the new VGF resort studios someday, but for a family trip I'd rather have a 2BR, not just for the kitchen and laundry but also for the living room as a place to gather - as @DizneyLizzy says above! If you got connecting resort studios, if all five of you wanted to be together in one room, the only place to sit would be on the beds.

You both make excellent points regarding the communal space. It would be nice for us to have dinner together at a table. In fact, this inspired me...

Thanks everyone that voted or commented :) I panicked a little when I saw more dates disappearing from the RAT, so I booked a two bedroom just now! Decided to go with Boardwalk view instead of Standard view, so that we can also hopefully enjoy use of the balconies.

As a bit of a hedge, I have booked a studio at GFV for just my family, in case my brother backs out. This insurance policy only works up until 31 days out but better than nothing.

Be sure to request High Floor so that your balcony will have spindles instead of a solid wall that you can’t see over unless you’re standing up. BW view is the best but only if you can enjoy it!
