I am looking for some clarity from people that have sailed to Alaska before. What time does the port open and what time do passengers start boarding? I know that the PAT time is not the boarding time, but I wanted to understand. My PAT time is 11-11:30.

Thank you

The times are about the same as for any other cruise. I think 11:00 is one of the earliest times available. They will not start boarding until around noon or so. You may have to wait in the terminal for a little bit until your boarding number if called. They have to prepare the ship after everybody gets off and that still takes the same amount of time.

I don't remember a lot of specifics from my 2014 trip, other than a lot of waiting. Waiting to check in, then waiting to board, and there might have been some other waiting, too. And in general, the waiting makes an airport terminal look exciting and glamorous. It is not even remotely a magical experience. But then you finally get on the ship and all is forgotten. :earsboy:

Haha, thanks for the information! I am already disappointed I won't see the bright blue and yellow ears like in Port Canaveral. Like you said it will be all forgotten once I am on board.

One other note, you will go through US Customs before boarding the ship, so you'll need your passports handy.

If I recall correctly, the timing was pretty close to PC. I think we arrived about 10:30 and had to wait 20-25 minutes before they started letting people in (there was quite a line by the time they started). The first stop was customs and then on to security and the check-in desk. I'm pretty sure boarding started by 11:45 or 12:00.
