Hi,

I am still trying to decide what to do while we are in Cozumel. We are contimplating going on the Dune Buggy tour, hanging at the beach, or hanging out in town. I know that siesta takes place there from 1-5pm which makes me think that I should do something else during the day. The dune buggy tour ends at 530 and we were wondering the following things-- Can we reboard the ship after the buggy tour or beach to take a shower and then go back to town to do some shopping and hang out at Carlos and Charlies? Or is it time consuming to do this? We have never been on a cruise before and need advise. I know that if we do with the buggies or the beach we wil want to freshen up after the day's activities. Any advise would be great.

Hi I'm pretty sure you can return to the ship for lunch , shower etc, why not spend the afternoon on the beach either paradise or mr sanchos which are both popular and take a little siesta yourself ?
Both beaches have shower facilities and restaurants if you want to eat and change there.

Have a wonderful holiday

We were on the 4/24 Western and enjoyed Cozumel very much. You certainly can get on and off the ship whenever you please. We docked right at a pier that extended out from the shore (no tender) which made it easy to walk on and off.

I imagine if you were at the beach you might want to freshen up and then return to do some shopping, etc. later in the day. Be assured it will be easy to do so.

Have a wonderful time.

So are all the shops, etc closed between 1 and 5? I hadn't seen this anywhere else and that would definitely change our plans for the day.

Thanks!

We were in shops after 1pm and they were open. I can't imagine them closing with the amount of cruise ships there. The funniest thing was there was a Carnival cruise ship right next to ours and they actaully had to carry some poeple on boardbecause they were to drunk after partying in Cozumel to even walk on their own!

You were watching that, too? I was trying to see if my dh and dd were in that incredibly long line waiting to board the Magic (as it was only 30 minutes til dinner, and also noticed several people who were being supported by one, sometimes two, people in order to get back to the Carnival ship. Guess they don't call them "The Fun Ships" for nothing. Guess that solidifies my decision not to sail with them!

Heather,

We did the Dune Buggy tour and it was a blast. It is suposed to last until 5:30 pm, but we were back in town by 4:30 because we had others on the tour that had to board their ship by then. (I do believe they cut it extremely close!). We were fine with the hour less of a ride. We still had a great day and were ready for some Charlos & Charlies!

We walked back to the ship (about 5min.) got onboard, showered, found our friends and headed back into town for some Mexican fun and libations. We hit Senor Frogs and C&C and had a blast. The ship doesn't have last boarding until 10 or 10:30 pm so we had PLENTY of time to change and go back to town, have dinner and a really good time.

With the siesta thing...I do believe that some of the small little shops may shut down for the traditional siesta, but most are open and going strong all day.

We watched the exact same thing happen on The Magic on our June 03 cruise. There were quite a few incredibly drunk people getting back on board our ship and it was pretty funny to watch them. What wasn't funny was watching the teenagers that we saw drinking at Carlos and Charlies with their parents (they were 17 & 18) coming back on board very drunk and they preceeded to get sick back up on deck later on. That was sad, very sad.

On our Jan 04 cruise we spent the day at Mr. Sanchos and then went back on board and cleaned up. We left the kids on board for the night and my husband and I went over to Senor Frogs and Charlos and Charlies to enjoy ourselves and have dinner. It was very easy to do and a lot of fun!

Very easy to get on/off the ship. We did this, spent 3 hours or so at Mr. Sancho's right away in the morning..had the taxi drop us off back downtown near the forum shops. Then we worked our way back to the dock area, shopping along the way.

We had many packages and decided to pop back to the ship, freshen up and come back out to Carlos and Charlies for dinner.
Great plan, we had a wonderful time!

Enjoy!
