Hello - quick question. My birth certificate has my middle name on it but my cruise reservation/documents do not have my name middle or middle initial just my first and last names will I be denied boarding?

Thanks!

I'm sure folks here know the answer (I do not know for sure, but I am guessing it's fine), but I suggest that this really is a question you should be asking DCL, either directly or through a TA. Relying upon a message board to confirm or deny whether or not you will be allowed to board the ship on embarkation day is dicey at best.

There's only one source that can tell you "for sure" for sure, and it ain't here.

When I called DCL to add our passport numbers, the CM did make sure she read our names on the reservation to make sure they matched (even spelling) to our passports. Does this help? I guess it sounded when I called that the names need to match the documents you use. My husband's reservation name did not have his middle name but passport did. The CM just added it. It was really easy

Thank you of course I contacted my TA and DCL but the rep seemed unsure of her answers and my TA has not returned my call as of yet.

Thank you I called back and spoke with another rep who was very helpful and told me the middle name is not important just the first, last name and DOB.

It's always advisable that your name match on all documents if at all possible. That's standard recommendation for any traveling. Obviously it may not be possible if there has been a name change or something. But I suggest you have your TA contact DCL and request the names on your reservation be corrected to match your identifications, especially if that is as simple as adding a middle name to your cruise reservation. It likely won't be a problem, but can't hurt and might save you some time explaining at one location or another. It's really not DCL's "call" as to what name or documentation will be accepted, especially once you are in a foreign country.

Enjoy your cruise!

I wouldn't worry about this BUT if you felt like it, call DCL and tell them what you need help with. You need to simply add a middle name or initial. THEN give them the reservation info. I've found that despite using a TA, if it's something that simple, if they know the request ahead of time they aren't *always* to quick to tell you to call the TA. They can sometimes help you with some small things. Don't get irritated if the answer is still "call the TA", but it's worth a lighthearted try.

We have never used our middle names for our reservation. Always travel with BC's which have middle names on them. We have not had an issue.

Probably not. Probably so. You'll get both answers here, based on people's experience and what they've read. And sometimes it seems the clerks at port check-in aren't allowed to use common sense.

You need to contact Disney about this (or call your trusted TA and ask them to contact Disney). You don't need to show up at port, be denied, and be thinking "but the online discussion group said it would be okay"!

Thanks for the replies. I have my passport which I signed in haste and misspelled my own name! I panicked and assumed my passport was invalid so I went to get a certified copy of my birth certificate which contains my middle name. But I called the US passport agency and they told me to strike a line through my misspelled name and re-sign it. I can't believe I did that:sad2:

^ Exactly. It sounds like she did get confirmation from DCL on her second call, though.

The solution is a signature with no recognizable letters. Then nobody knows if you've misspelled your signature or not. :)
