****IMPORTANT**** Board Rules--Everyone please read
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have cut and pasted the board rules that were previously posted. Please be sure to read and understand these.

With so many new faces, it's time to remind everyone about the board rules.
When our Webmaster Pete offered the first trade, little did we know that it would lead to an explosion on the Collector's Board! It seems that everyone wanted to take advantage of this chance to be a part of the Millennium tradition of pin trading.

We realized that some ground rules needed to be set, so here's a reminder of the policy:

The first option should always be to trade. If a cash sale is arranged, it must be for the exact original price of the item, with reasonable shipping. NO PROFITEERING IS ALLOWED. NO PROMOTION OF AUCTIONS IS ALLOWED. NO LINKS TO COMMERCIAL SITES ARE ALLOWED.

The DIS site cannot be held responsible if problems develop. Any transaction is entered into at your own risk. We are all adults, and are expected to behave as such.

I'd like to add that all of you have truly exemplified the Disney spirit! Thanks so much for adhering to the guidelines.

Question:
What are the guidelines if you buy a pin from e-bay and the cost of that pin was $20.00 and someone wants to purchase that pin, Is $20.00 considered the cost of the pin?
Another question is there are cast member pins. These pins are given to cast members for free. How could you determine a cost on these pins?
I know myself do not know the orginal cost of every pin especially if I purchase it from e-bay.
Could you please let me know.

Answer:
Originally, only trading was allowed. This was to be a reflection of the activity at WDW. When people started to pick up pins for other DIS members, that's when the "actual" price rule came into play. It's been a great policy, one that many of you have come to enjoy and appreciate.
We've all had Ebay experiences where we look back and think "what the heck did I do???" It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of bidding and realize later on that the adrenaline rush affected our judgement. It still has to be the original price of the pin, not what you paid.

With Cast Member pins, TRADING IS THE ONLY OPTION. Cast member pins are not generally sold and are "free" to the cast members. There are a few exceptions to the "free" pins, but as a rule, Cast pins must be traded on this board.

The main point to keep in mind is that you have made the choice to enter into a transaction. If the outcome is not what you expected, we have to remain neutral.

I hope that this clarifies any "gray areas" of the rules.

Thanks to everyone for reading and abiding by the rules.

I am still not quite sure of the rules applying to asking if someone has a pin. Could I put in a post, stating that I am looking for a particular pin and if someone is interested in selling it to me to email or pm me? Please help re info.
Thanks

Wenabre,

Yes, posts looking to buy pins are allowed, and you can only offer to pay the original retail price.
