Ok, so I'm trying to buy X-mas gifts for my 7 nieces. I would love to take advantage of the buy 1-get 1 free from toysrus.com. We have a niece who is 3 (she's VERY smart), one who is 4, one who is 2.5 yrs and one who is 7. Does anyone have any kids who love games and have any suggestions?? Thanks so much for the help!! :sunny:

any of the yahtzee jrs are great- and all those ages can usually follow along, trouble works well too.

My kids got monopoly jr- and I hate it ! Anyone can pick their version of a chance card and take someone's property!

They also have UNO in many different versions. We just started playing Mille Bornes w/ my kids- dh & I love it but haven't found an uptodate version. Any thoughts?

We love games with our 4 1/2 yr old DD. She loves Candyland the most and I think we are going to get her Chutes and Ladders for Christmas. Any of the classic Milton Bradley games are fun and educational we've found. Good luck on your search! :goodvibes

DH grew up playing Mille Bornes. I just bought the cards a year ago and he says they're the same rules/cards he used to use.
Thanks for the help so far!! :cool1:

For the little ones, chutes and ladders is really fun as is candy land. The older ones might like Sorry. Uno is great for anyone over about 5. I try to avoid games that take more time to set up than to play!!

Sorry is good. Straightforward and easy, but still Fun to play. Ditto for Trouble.

We just got Parcheesi, and our 7 and 4 1/2 year old are getting pretty good at it--I fear I lag far behind on sorting out all the counting and various dice rules.

We also pulled out an old game of Flinch, and then purchased another Flinch deck at a garage sale. My 7-year-old has been playing that (well!) for about 2 years now.

Bingo (and there are a million variations available) is terrific for the younger ones--we have an Ocean and a Dog version, and my then 3-year-old became adept enough to be the caller with minimal help.

DS is 4.5 almost 5 and loves games! We have Chutes and Ladders, Candyland, Cariboo, Wheels on the Bus, Hungry Hungry hippos, Hullaballo, a few of the Memory games, Yahtzee Jr, Trouble, Disney Group Photo.

I plan on getting him Perfection, Sorry, Magic Kingdom Game, Pirate Treasure, Boggle Jr. and Toss Across this year.

DS7 is the game junky in our family. He really likes Sequence and Uno (Disney version of course). He received Nickelodeon Trick Tock for his birthday and this is a great family game.

We got the new Disney version of Sorry today. It was on sale at Target for $12 (regular $19). It has 16 of the characters as the pieces. My kids LOVED it. We played 3 times. It was really, really fun. In fact, we're going to give it as a b'day present this weekend.

Everyone loves Twister! And the kids love to see us turn into Contortionists and then fall down, moaning and groaning all the way :rotfl: My girls are 8 &5 and they love any of the Memory Games(Dora has one, Barney has one, etc).Kerplunk is back, Don't Break The Ice, Jenga, and the list goes on and on and on.....

My kids love the Guess Who? game. There is even a new Disney version of this game. Sorry and Uno are all time favorites around here. DD5 still loves the Memory type games--we have several different versions.

I remember the kids liking Candyland and Chutes and Ladders at ages 3-6. Grammy had Hi-Ho Cherry-o and Uncle Wiggly, but I think they are no longer available. Guess Who? was a hit, also. Pretty, Pretty Princess (a joke for adults) was a hit with the preschoolers. princess:

By age 4 one child was an UNO and Sorry whiz, otherwise I would say ages 5-8 for these games. Monopoly Jr. was OK, but they like regular Monopoly better.

This same boy is a Scrabble master at 8. Some kids just take to games better than others. :confused3

As I look at the every growing pile of toys & games in my house - we have DD3 & DS4 - it includes (not sure which ones are included in the sale though):
Memory - couple different versions - 1 for boy/1 for girl
Candyland
Chutes & Ladders
Hungry Hippos
Whack a mole
Old MacDonald
Don't spill the beans
Don't break the Ice
Cootie
Ants in my pants

Already looking for some new ones out this year - there is a dentist mouth we are looking at not sure of the name and also the bucking bronco game we are checking out.

And don't forget if they are siblings there are a couple of TV games appropriate for young children too like VSmile and maybe give a group gift with a couple games for them to play. Educational and fun? Or if they have one already adding to the collection We will be picking up a couple new ones for them to play.

Thanks so much for all the help!!!

I will definately be taking all of the suggestions and buying some games now!! :cool1:

Great ideas, but I can't believe no one said the Magic Kingdom game. We bought it for our girls and we all LOVE LOVE LOVE it. They are 3.5 & 5. Dh & I enjoy it too as does my 8 yr old nephew. We also play Sorry, Disney Princess Monopoly, Disney Yahtzee, and Cariboo (with the balls and the key.) But Magic Kingdom is our favorite.

What is the Magic Kingdom game? Can you describe it? Who makes it?

Thanks.
