Hey there, Hi there, Ho there, hope your as happy as can be!!! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

I've probley should have asked this question way before now, since I've already posted several new threads. But thought I should find out soon, before I posted another one and I start to get on Dis'er nerves.

Is there a rule or lets say unspoken rule to how many threads you can post??
Also, what about posting the same thread BUT on different form??? :confused3 :confused3

I read almost all of them, I have recieved the most magical advise so far. And to tell you the truth, I think I am becoming addicted to these boards. :rotfl: :rotfl:

With all that said, I still want to make sure I have the proper etiquette, so I don't make others mad or feed up with me.

Thanks for your help!

As for the number of threads, I've seen some people start dozens on all sorts of topics. So I don't think there is a limit.

Same thread - different forum? I'd be careful to ensure the thread is appropriate for the forum, or it will be moved (or even closed). For example, I wouldn't post a question about airline tickets on the Resorts Board or ask what the best moderate resort is on the Restaurant Board. I'd make sure the thread fit the topic of the board.

I don't think people get upset if you ask questions. Unlike some other forums, people here are very helpful and seem eager to answer questions -- even if the question has been asked 100 times before! :teeth:

Just be certain that the thread you are posting is on the appropriate board. For example, questions about resorts and their amenitites are most appropriate on our Resorts Board. And Welcome to the DIS!!

It's considered bad form to cross-post. That is, to post the same message on multiple boards. Especially when a question doesn't belong on a certain board. I think it's even bad form to cross-post when the thread might actually belong on more than board. For instance, your refrigerator question could have been put on the Resorts Board, or the Budget Board or the Families Board ... but not all 3. And it certainly didn't belong on the Theme Parks or Tips boards.

Cross-posting not only uses system resources, but it also wastes people's time re-reading or skipping over something that has already been asked and answered somewhere else.

Welcome to the DIS! Now that you know the rules, you'll fit in just fine. People are always happy to answer questions as long as they're asked only once :).

There was somebody today that posted the same question on 13 boards here on the DIS. I don't think you need to do that.

If you have a question and there is a thread that looks like it may contain the answer but there are dozens of pages and hundreds of replies ...

I consider it acceptable to look at just the first few and last few pages and if you don't see your answer, add a reply to that thread asking your question.

The less desirable alternative is to begin a new thread with your question.

Also, when using the search function, I consider it OK to stop searching and begin a new thread with your question if you don't find the answer in half an hour.
