Bluetooth - is there a charge when you use it?

I am so technilogically challenged. I know my phone has bluetooth capability on it, but if I use it am I going to get charged for it? I am on a Sprint plan with my in-laws. The plan is actually in their name and they just added me on for an extra $10/month. I have tried to call Sprint to ask questions, but they will only speak to the account holder. My in-laws are way more confused with this kind of stuff than me, so it would be pointless to try to have them call.

My Dh has one I got as part of deal with Verizion. I've never been charged extra for him using it. It's casically a wireless hands free head set.

Do you both have data plans on your phones? I think sending music or other multimedia files requires a data plan. Also, you need to have a bluetooth that's capable of that. Mine only works to make and answer phone calls.

Yes she can. Think of Bluetooth as a mini wireless network that is capable of transferring data (whether it's files, conversation through headsets, audio, etc.). Bluetooth operates independent of your cellular plan, so even if you had no service on that phone, the Bluetooth network would still operate.

Now getting those two phones to see each other using Bluetooth is a whole 'nuther story. Some have been easy, while others have been a pain. Good luck.

Thanks to all for the info - I just didn't want to be surprised to find extra charges on the cell phone bill (or didn't want my in-laws to have to find them).
